I'd like to purchase one for our S13 drag car project.. the goal is around 1000whp, built 8.8 solid axle with custom 4 link, and a race weight of around 2500lbs with driver. I am going to be using some big bump sticks that will put me in the upper 8K RPM range. So, if you're interested, PM me with a price.. honestly.. I can fab my own plenum.. and would actually prefer to do that, since I will need to make it fit under my S13 hood.

Looks like a hell of a lot of machine work for the billet piece...beautiful is the only word that comes to mind. Always thought it looked awesome from the beginning, glad you are revisiting it because I know you would sell a ton of these if you wanted to.

Nice design. i would like to see if it would work on the N/a car Jeremy is working with.

Very nice work phunk, but the market for this is pretty thin dont you think? The stock bottom plenum does a pretty good job breathing at the meat of our rpm range. Something like this is only usefull for crazy NA builds and only 1 person so far comes to mind, Audiblemayhem's 15:1 compression car lol.

Someone with high FI power goals could just port the stockers, no?

Also, wont the new generation heads from the VQ37HR make all this work almost irrelavant.

Save your money and go design a nice external wastegate package for the 100's of APS TT guys.

before we did that, we would go back to a v-shaped plenum floor like in the first prototype. I dont think there will be any problem with the current design, if we changed anything right now it would be some small changes to the runners and taper angle.

now that we made this post, i might hold onto this thing for a little bit. there is someone local that might be doing some testing for us. we will ALWAYS have custom ones available to customer specs, but we would like to eventually release a production unit.

I bet Audiblemayhem might be able to see some nice numbers with your plenum on his new setup.

One question. Was this tested on a revup engine or a 287hp engine?

Nice work

Your correct, the length, displacement, and shape of the runners all have significant impact on the sweet spot of the RPM band. The stock unit is a very good "blanket" manifold, but IMHO its what is causing the fall of everyones powerband and keeping people from reving higher.

It was tested on a 287hp engine.

I will have to take a look at what our cost was on that 40lb brick of aluminum. The machining process took something like 40 hours... We would probably be talking in the area of $1200ish for the part and we would include a flange to use to make the plenum with. Plus or minus a few bucks.

MasterCam X was used. Brandon is a mold engineer, so thats the software he is most accustomed to using.

It was 4 sheets of MDF glued together. The same stuff you make speaker boxes out of. Its like machining butter.

My Z project is over and I have been collecting parts for my new project. I want to just enjoy my Z and fix it when it breaks, rather than mess with it anymore. The power it makes is already enough that I and anyone I take for a ride are able to enjoy the car... no number would ever be good enough for me so I am just calling it quits.

Like I was sayign above, a CNC version would probably be in the area of 1200 bucks. Specs could be altered slightly for application.

Is that crazy NA engine running yet? I havent been around here much to stay on top of things. I would be curious how it does on a engine like that, but you would have to be ready to really spin that thing.

Your probably right, I am sure we could sell them as is... but as usual we are pretty picky about releasing stuff, hehe.

The market is definatly thin, but the market exists and I have a place in my heart for the crazy stuff. You would be surprised how much intake manifold design changes things even for a FI car. On one of our 3SGTE projects we gained 125ish whp just from changing to a larger turbine housing and a new intake manifold design and spinning the engine to 9 grand. The way it stands right now, no one can even rev to 9000rpm if they wanted to try it, there is no intake manifold to support that. The VQ world will hit those engine speeds in the next year or two I think... products intended for it are what need to happen first.

haha, this is true...but being extremely picky just brings out better products and I like it better that way anyway. Keep up the good work.

1200.00 would be for a complete intake mani I'm assuming (with plenum)?

actually the plenum would be more, we would just get you a flange to make a plenum with The raw time spent on the CNC to make that brick into that shape is whats killing the economy of selling these things as a CNC product rather than just casting it. thats what i meant when i said a pretty penny!

Looking great Charles! The nice thing about that big of a chunk of aluminum is that the harmonics should be reduced even though you are only using one vice. Makes for a nice clean up cycle.
