I didn't buy one. It's overpriced. lol. But to me it's the simplest way to see performance gains with "one" mod instead of pretty much every NA bolt-on available.

But everyone seems to give people crap who decide to go that route. Instead of ignoring the threads they aren't replying to, people are drawn to post Stillen bashing.

He asked for vids/clips of Stillen runs. What kind of responses did he get?

The Stillen sounds great and has fantastic response. For a city driver it's a blast. It's a more expensive $-to-HP kit but so what.

Hmm, when you start forking out that kinda money for a performance mod, the #'s are obserd. Like I said before, I wasnt bashing Stillen, I just honestly wanted to know why they are so low. Stage 2 being around $5600 for 30-40hp baffles me.

Talking realwildone2

I also bought a Stillen Stage 2. Installed it on my 2006 GT Z, 6spd-revup. Did the install myself....thought the kit was well engineered. I like to power...I don't know about the "dyno numbers" but I'm sure it's more than a 30-40 hp increase. They claim ~87 at the flywheel....maybe a bit less but it runs great. Went for the reliability with the stock bottom end for now. Fun to drive and like the roots whine.

Smile realwildone2

I didn't mean from locking up the brakes.....lol.....just kidding. I lot of equipment out there is for the users preference in selecting. If you want extreme, you get extreme.....it's mild to wild.....that's what I like about mods, FI.

thanks doug but im still arguing with my wallet about the twins..............i think i might have won the argument. but really with the kits out there now i dont see why anyone would buy it for the price.if your worried about reliability... well its a great kit but so are the jwt twins and they give you so much more power, and they can be upgraded for even more power.

I bought a new stage 2 on ebay for $3500, have not installed it yet. I went with stillen because I live in california and plan on keeping my Z for quite a while and need to stay carb legal. I would rather do the JWT twin setup but after talking to them I don't think CARB will ever happen for that kit.

As for power from the stillen setup I think the numbers are low if you stay with their pacakge they offer. I do plan on installing it as a stage 4, on inspection most emission testers would never know the difference and see the EO number that say's it's OK. I plan on tuning it with a UTEC rather than the SS box and a larger set of injectors and higher flow fuel pump/return fuel setup. Also I plan on a larger I/C radiator and higher flow rate for coolant, the target being to get the charge air as cool as possible.
Another idea I'm toying with is building a charge cooler like the ford SVT lightening has, that should let me get it to somewhere near 400WHP with maybe short bursts of 425 to 440 with the boost cooler.

The stillen is a great unit, don't get me wrong. And it would definitely increase the joy of driving for your average joe wanting some more power. It's just I don't know who would bother with less than Stage 4

I dont plan on staying stage 2 for very long. I just want to keep it reliable untill the car is paid off, then go stage 4 and tinker with it.

Well since you allready bought it,you will get used to the stage2 very quick. The torque increase is what you will notice right away but it dies of fast when you get into the upper midrange and higher. When you decide to go stage4 (skip stage 3....trust me on this) you will notice it does not die of nearly as bad as stage 2 as rpm,s increase.Stage 4 is leaps and bounds better then stage 2.
I still like the kit but i would def go with twins,so much more power out there.

Z enclosure Mike, has the Stillen Supercharged Z. I have to agree with the power issue but I have see his car run and the sound and performance is not bad...Personally I own a 5AT Z and have serious thoughts of a SC vs. a ST or TT, out for fun not lookin to tear down a 600-800hp supra...Out of all the SC systems the Stillen sounds great, but I wish the power was there like a Vortec...I'm going TN but would def. put a stillen on my car, BUT it would have to be a used system buying it new..Naaaaa, not happenin...

They use a 62 trim.... LOL that's what GM uses for their Cavalier SC kit. I bet it's faster too lol.

i am sorry to tell you that you will not get anywhere near the 400 whp range with the stillen what ever you try.vrt has tried everything and still never got beyond 350rwp with this kit.take it for what it is and live with it,cause it wont get any better............untill somebody comes out with a whipple s/c that is.waytogood at relentless motorsorts is working on this and if this happens.................well we will be talking some good power gains.
