Default Cali turbo owners, have a few ?

When you have a new car and then the time comes for you to go renew your registration, how long do you have to wait until you have to go get a smog check? Is it the first year? Or is it untill your car gets older?
My other question is when you have FI that is not CARB approved, how or what do you do to renew your registration and pass the smog check? Do you just take the FI system out every year to pass the smog check to renew your registration? Can you pass smog if you take your FI out? What if you have a forged internals?
I wish there was a special permit that you can get to have "illigal" modifications on your car. Sucks living in Cali and have to deal with all these sh!ty laws.
If you can answer any of my questions I would greatly appreciate it.

Wow, really? Would you just have to find a place that would be willing to do that? Is it that simple?

The jwt is still not CARB approved. I went to their shop and asked the status of the approval, they said that it does not look good, maybe for the earlier models o3 and 04. Something about an issue of the "warm up cycle" that is the problem.

Finding a shop to do an illegal smog test is not as easy as it seems. The state is always doing surveilance of suspected shops, when found they close them, confiscate all their equipment and prosecute them. It can be done but just walking into a shop with people you don't know and asking is going to take a lot of asking. Also the CHP can cite you if they suspect that your vehicle is modified, the citation requires you to have your vehicle inspected at a "Referee" station.

http://dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm#BM2535

The z was one of the newest cars i've owned-i was shocked to find out that i didn't have to smog it every 2 years! (well for that first 6yr period)

$150 bucks for an illegal smog is an awesome deal-i've heard of them going for waaaay more.. say in the $400+ range

Owners of vehicles six or less model years old will pay an annual smog abatement fee for the first six registration years instead of being required to provide a biennial smog certification.

Sweet I have three more years before I have to go Paco's place in Pacioma to get my smog. Oda' Le' .......LOL
