Please tell me the TRUTH!!!
Man I am so tired of these threads.
Boosting an N/A engine is never cheap, it will almost always lead to problems. Be prepared to spend alot of money, and dont expect a whole lot.
If you want a boost happy motor, sell the 350, get a 240sx with an sr20 , or get an sti, or evo.
Yes many people run this motor with boost just fine, but many people have blown their motors with little boost, its just the luck of the draw.
YOU WILL NEVER KNOW UNTIL YOU DO IT!!!

A lot of people just really dont know what they are getting into when they first go turbo. 9/10 its not just like an intake slap it on and your done. There are little problems that go wrong no matter what. I first did a turbo set up on my integra and ended up building the motor making 350+ hp but ever other week it was something new. If you do boost your Z make sure you do all your homework on your kit. Be happy with what you got and just enjoy your kit the more power the better chance of problems but that dosnt mean you wont have problems even with low boost. I choose the JWT kit because "I felt it was safe kit and I would have less chance of it FU*King up on me" and 12k later Its still running strong but I have stock everything but the tt on the car.
turbo cars are actually suprisingly reliable i have a friend that has a stock motor w/ jwt 530bb (baby turbos)no engine work at all on pump gas and runs 425whp at 8psi with out boost controller. so if anything i am sure the cars are more than most people can handle and they really dont run any hotter than stock. ya they do but only till you get the air pockets out.

first its not luck of the draw its the person tuning your car.second i know some companys that run big turbos on stock blocks all day long. third if the drive rings the car out all day every day to 6500 7000 it gonna blow stock or built.

If you are one of them, can you tell me why suddenly you decide to sell the car?
You know you will not gain the money back!
Is it because:
1. The car is not as fast as you expect after the installation?
2. The engine is rough and you realize it will blow out oneday?
3. The boost is not consistent and the heat of the engine is too much?
4. or others...
Please let me know, so I will not make the same mistakes...
I appreciate any comments!
Thanks

+1 Even NA, VQ's have popped in cases where the driver was running the dog **** out of it constantly. But to say it again - FI isn't a cheap hobby to get into. Most find out after the fact and bail out in efforts to recoop some of the money (even at a loss).

To the OP: i was in the same boat as a lot of these guys are talking about. i got my Z and starting looking around for mods to the car. I saw that NA mods don't respond well. I decided i wanted to go boost. Well then i start looking for a kit. I bought the turbonetics ST (cheapest kit). I got it used for like 3K$ so i was like hell yeah 3K and it came with an exhaust. so then i install it. I realize i have to buy new plugs (50$). Walboro fuel pump (100$). Wait... i need engine management? UTEC (750$). Oh it'd be good for my car to get a return fuel system? AAM return fuel system (650$). Fuel injector clips?

Even people with great tunes still blow their motors it just happens. There are always companies running big turbos on stock blocks its just what they do, but it wont last they all blow up in the long run. Any car you run to 6500-7000 will blow up eventually if you do it all day every day. Its all just luck of the draw still as when.
I decided not to turbo because i decided the platform would never really give me what i want. My car is too heavy and I just cant get it to handle quite right. For 45k or so you can get a C6. I have decided to take the money i was gonna use on the G an build a kit car. 400 hp in a 2500 lb chassis + I get the fun of building it myself.
i sold my car for 2 reasons, make that 3, mainly because im not a baller like these other guys, but it wasnt practical for me anymore. i needed something bigger, to haul kids, my dog, etc etc. i put 2 child seats in my G once, and only once.
i parted my G out, and then sold the car, and made enough money, that i bought my DD, an 05 jeep grand cherokee, loaded 4x4 with the 5.7L hemi, and my beater, the built 240sx, i paid for both with cash. so for what i sold the G and parts for, i paid for 2 cars.
the other reason was i was kinda bored with it. my G went thru 2 complete transformations including but not limited to rims, suspension, full stereo, the vortech, then the turbo, etc and i installed everything myself, because thats what i love to do. the G has been my favorite car so far, it was fun, and i would do it all over again, but i was always afraid of blowing the motor, and i just didnt want to spend upwards of 5k for a new motor. now if i blow the 240, i can rebuild it for nearly nothing. notice how i said "I" can rebuild it.

It is amazing to many people in here. The 1st is it costs a fortune to add 80HP to their cars. The 2nd is they know it will blow the engine at the end.
Why are we doing it?

simply and subjectively, because it's worth it.

I have an 03 base which I picked up two years ago for about 22k and have added about $2000 including nitrous but not my wheels. I run 12.2 - 12.07 on drag radials.
If I boosted it with a TT kit I'd still be under what he paid for his MR.
