Default JE Piston

I did a search and didn't come with anything about this piston.
Does anyone have any experience with this piston? the majority of people here who go FI use arias and cp.... why not JE?

The Arias Extreme Duty pistons have had no failures to date here on the forum. I guess if it's not broken then don't fix it.

+1.....it is very rare to have zero failures of a piston...period.

JE has been around for awhile and maybe they deserve a chance, but its hard to be a Guinnie Pig when there is a For Sure thing

when they first started putting turbos on hondas/acuras, JE pistons were used, and i vary rarely heard of failures using these pistons, IIRC. I'd imagine that they would have the same reliability in our engines.

Most of the name brand pistons out right now are overkiller for 99% of the setups I have seen, so you really cant go wrong.

JE are extremely good quality pistons. Alot of the engine builders over here in the UK use them.

Now days, those with the most advertising bucks can corner the market. There is a lot of good product out there that advertises else where----Like JE. They are big with the American Detroit Iron Market but are more than capable of manufacturing pistons for anything

JE, CP, ARIAS, WEISCO - they're all good pistons. Most of the "custom" pistons you see are a variation of the 4 names just mentioned (i.e. custom compression ratio, custom ring material, etc.). You can't go wrong with any of them.

CAVEAT - stay away from the standard ARIAS pistons. Rings are crap. That's why FP and GTM came up with their own custom ED set. FP uses chrome piston rings, GTM uses copper IIRC.

BC, Crawford, and several shops use CP piston variations and have great success. AAM uses JE pistons for just about every motor build they turn out and can be queried if looking for answers that pertain just to JE. But just to let you know - just about ANY forged piston is do when going FI. It's important to ensure that the piston rings are of good quality and clearances are tight when building (i.e. boring).

Good luck.

+1...
For clarifation, both FP and GTM Arias Extreme Duty pistons use 1.5mm chrome top rings. If you compare these rings, to stock, you will just laugh.

A chrome or chrome moly is the way to go in a ring--- just a little longer breakin period---which is a good thing

Is there any difference between the two shop pistons, or are they identical (FP and GTM Arias ED)? I'd heard that the difference was the ring material (chrome / copper), but it sounds like I was mistaken. Any more info on this?

TIA

We are using JE Pistons for the first time for a build for a Sports Compact Magazine article, we will find out.

And Yes Sharif, Rings are everything...

Note:
Otherwise we use Arias most of the time and CP upon request.

Does anyone recall the company who's piston skirts were cracking in some rebuilt motors? Wasn't it CP? There was a thread here not long ago about someone cracking piston skirts.

That sucks ---There was a difference in expansion rate between the skirt and the piston or a skirt that was just too thin-cold tolerances on a forged piston are enough to cause a slap till it gets up to temp

people are hesistent to use new things here because stuff costs so much. people dont want to spend the same amount of money with a chance of it not working. JE has been around for years and has thousands of sub 8 second cars that run at tracks all around the world every day.

wait till you see my new pistons, only three weeks away.

i will be pushing the limits of un sleeved block with them...
