Open dumps VS Recirculate
Just trying to get a list of pros n cons of have open wastegates VS recirulating them. I am getting ready for my Greddy TT build in a few months and trying to decide which to go with.
For those with Open dumps, do you get tired of the sound? Who makes 3" or 3.5" downpipes with wastegate relocation kits?

Open dumps are not for the weak of heart...maybe the weak of hearing. They make an improvement in spool and are less restictive, potentially freeing up a few ponies. They get louder as you add more boost. At 6 PSI they are pretty mundane but 9 psi and above they can get pretty loud. Its all relative though, but if you like the volume of your HKS I would say you are NOT going to like the volume of the Open Dumps (2x louder at 6 psi 2.5x+ at higher psi).

open dumps sound bad... like a lawn mower on crack. people would ask is there something wrong with your car?? Plus, it drowns out the turbo spool.
If you recirculate your dumps 18" down from the turbo with a smooth transition, you won't have any power loss as you would if you had it recirculate a few inches from the turbo at 90 degrees .

I'm currently running 17.5psi daily and open dumps from mid 3rd gear, full throttle to fourth gear full throttle sound effin awesome .... and will scare the crap out of any seasoned racer who is not expecting it ...
BUT, low rpm 5th and hitting full boost with the rpms building so slowly sound terrible ... I've learned to part throttle it to avoid going above the wastegate spring pressure.
I do want to get rid of my open dumps cos I really can't tell if I get any detonation at all .. and this is dangerous ...

Definately very loud. With time, they will not sound as loud, as hearing loss sets in.
Usually, boost stability is improved, and backpressure is reduce slightly, so expect a mild power improvement as well.
