Default Probability of ST on stock block blowing?

hey this is my first time posting in the F/I as i am really considering going down the road so please no flaming. i have searched and couldnt really find any hard evidence. i do not plan on building the motor at all but also really want to avoid doing any damage to my motor. will i have any worries with this setup, if driven conservative? i will never be tracking my car and will baby it as i have since day one. i just want to know i have the power if needed. i dont know much about this subject so i just want to know what i will be getting myself into. i dont want to have my car in the shop dropping more money every other week because something went wrong. do i just forget about it untill i can afford to drop like 15-20k for a built motor and a TT setup. BTW it would be the turbonetics ST and i have a 5AT.

also to add to the question would i need to build up the the tranny to handle the power.

i know this a much discussed topic but didnt feel like searching for 3 days for my exact questions so if you dont want to answer just leave it at that thnx.

There are alot of people running a st with a stock block. Keep it too 400 whp and 8psi. This is covered all the time, you just gotta read more.

380whp and sub-400wtq is what i would tune to and consider it relatively safe on my stock block. Tuning is key no matter what FI kit you choose.

No need to build the tranny but let me tell you there are always going to be unexpected expenses when you go FI.

From experience your going to need a better ems than the flash TN's provides. It's just safer I think. I will be selling my UTEC and tuner pro soon if your interested.

Defiantly get a UTEC and a good tuner to do it.

Boost is boost. Get a conservative tune if you wish for it to be "safe".

I agree with the others, the tune is a big thing. I have a conserrvative tune on mine and I run my car very hard. I've had a few unexpected things happen, mostly with the turbo kit. Nothing too big though, and nothing that the manufacture didn't cover under warrantee.

Just keep an eye on the vacuum line connecting the turbo to the wastegate, if it cracks or comes off you overboost. Other than that the turbo will just cook itself , seals ,bearings. That won't hurt your motor.

Yup, I keep mine at 9psi... boost creeps to 10psi when at 7grand rpm which takes me to 402 hp at the wheels ... (installing 7lb spring to prevent the creep)... but i know im safe there until i do internal work... even at redline im ok... topped out at 170mph last night racing an Evo 9...

I have the Turbonetics ST 5AT w/ the reflashed ECU. Have been very happy with the performance, looks & reliability. On top of that it comes a 1 year no fault warranty. Just make sure that it is installed by a shop that specializes on the TN kit. Have seen many horror stories on bad installs. Here's my post:

Yeah, TN is very good about honoring their warranty. I had no problems with them whatsoever.

had my aps st on for a year and a half about. maybe 12-15000 miles. just tore down my block to build the motor and the shop said my block was in really good condition. i had the utec with map selector. i usually ran the car on the 420whp map. i guess it all depends on the tune and how you drive.
