Default think My Motor's done

awhile back, My car stalled on the freeway and had to pull over and get it towed. I've taken it to corner 3, and steve believes that the motor is toast. The engine was built by scott performance and tuned by GT Motorsports.. what the hell to do now?

Why does Steve believe the motor is toast? Has a compression test..ect. been done? I would start there. Good luck.

I've spent over 4k at GT Motorsports, getting it tune, replacing the ignition etc.. I've also replaced the tranny for a 5th gear grind, and installed greddy evott and downpipes.

is this a "disgruntled" post or are you just stating the amount spent?

I'm just stating the history of the car, as much as possible, so I can get inputs on what I can do next. steve also said that there's a slight possibility that some parts of the clutch might be bad, but most likely not.

You bought this motor from a forum member right? It was sitting at GT and you had them install correct?

I would give Sam a shout, and take it there. Anything built at the now defunct Scott's Performance is suspect, IMHO.

no this was marluci's old car.. i am always leary of when people build their cars and then sell it right after.. really shady.. that and you were the second owner of the car apart from marluci.. so some thing is definately fishy.. no offence to BigBri, but his car was built by Scott Performance also and he sold his right after it was built

you really need to find out exactly what is wrong with it. if your block is good then i suggest pending your spending limits getting another build the 3.8l stroker sounds mighty good.. now adays you can find a good shortblock built for a reasonable price.

unless you are distrusting of sam's work, i would take it by GTM and have them start a diagnosis... it seems he's most familiar with the car and would be the best person to have take a look... don't get too down over it...it may be something far less than what you're expecting...

i don't think he is frustrated with Sam.. he is frustrated with the fact he spent 4k .. nothing to do with sam or that he had to pay sam.

unfortunately.. when you buy a car that already has been FI .. built or not built.. its like starting from scratching again with a stock motor

i didn't think he was frustrated with sam, either... but, i always find it best to start a sentence in the most unassuming manner possible... *haha* i don't want to give advice to take it somewhere when he's unwilling to go...

correct. this has nothing to do with Sam. In fact he just called me giving me direction what I can do from here. Only reason my car isn't in his shop, as we speak, is I thought it was a very simple problem and corner 3 is much closer by my house. wish me luck yall.

paranormal, it wasn't at wot, when it died. I was just cruising.

I hope you can at least salvage the clutch!
Good luck
