5/8 breather filter, available at any old school speed shop. Direct fit back of left valve cover. I had a catch can hooked up at this point for two weeks. Nothing collected, not one drop. So I took off the can and put the breather on. Vortech sold me a replacement filter without a breather hole. It looked like a big hassle to drill a hole in the filter.

I get a lot of oil vapors in the line . Without a slight vac in the can probably won't collect any oil.. In about 300k miles I'll have enough oil to drain.

actually anyone that is doing this filter swap should install a catch can for the driver side breather hose anyway.

That is what im doing, my vortech filter is so gunked up from blow by gasses from that hose.

I bought everything to relocate my filter but, haven't gotten around to installing it yet (It's been like a year ). One thing I could not figure out is where to put the catch can. Where did you put yours?

I got something like the greddy catch can and im placing it horizontally over the radiator cover right infront of the engine cover. also if you have a small vertical one you can squeez it on the passenger side in the back or next to the washer fluid.

I here you guys talk about blow by coming out of the vent hose . I vent mine to the air . But Ive never , ever , seen any drips of sludge , puffs of smoke . Even when I had it hooked up to the Original Vortech filter . There wasnt any signs of blow by what so ever . Stock or the built motor.... nothing !

You may have misunderstood my post. I had two separate catch cans. One between the PCV and intake manifold, which collected a lot of oil and is still on the car. And one between the left valve cover and the air filter base. It may have gotten some small amount of vacuum from venturi effect in the filter but no oil in the can. If you are only using one can for two lines, how can you know where the oil is coming from?

My Vortech filter gunked up pretty fast too. But it wasn't oil, it was rubber dust from my serpentine belt. And if there was oil it wouldn't pass through the filter element. It would be sucked directly into the compressor.

I dont think that filter will slip right in the front, it looks like he chopped out that air duct quite a bit.

I noticed the same rubber dust.. And it doesn't take long time for it to build up..Need to clean often which is why I am looking for an easier remove/reinstall filter..

I agree but they could have done a better job. It's still not going to flow as well as my HKS filter.

I couldn't find one anywhere locally so I ordered from K&N. Should be easy to bore that area out. Yay for air tools!
