Default APS TT Tuner: Able to boost Below 12Psi?

Hello, i currently have the APS TT tuner kit waiting for install on my G35. I plan to run it on a stock block at conservative boost (~8psi) and then in the future upgrade internals. I was wondering, due to the Tuner kit having 12Ib actuators, does this mean 12Ib is the minimum boost I can run? If so, where might I find the lower Ib actuator springs that come with the standard APS kit?

Thank you.

I could be way off base, but I think the "12lb" means that's the maximum boost the actuators can handle.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, JOHN

It's the opposite, 12lb is the lowest the actuators will allow the turbos to flow. From there, you use a boost contoller to increase the boost pretty much as high as you want. I used 12lb actuators on my old build and was hitting 17-18psi all day long

well... shoot.. what are my options as for how to run below 12Ib? I did not realize the tuner had 12Ib actuators as opposed to the lower ones on the standard kit. Just a different spring correct?

actually , if you hook the boost line right up to the actuators, it will make a lot less boost than its rated at. we had the yellow springs making 6 psi.

the boost line actually pushes the internal wastegate open so the way to open it the easiest is to have it hooked up directly. on the stock APS kit, we made 4 psi...

Yeap this is correct. You need different springs to specify the lowest boost level turbos can achieve. This is also in theory ofcourse, as the back pressure and the setup of the car are factors that affecting the actual pressure that the springs are opening. Forged internals have springs for all the ranges that you want to run the car up to. Visit their website www.forgedinternals.com for further info
