turbonetics design but after the cats?
I was thinking of having a turbo kit made and the turbonectics/STS setup came to mind.
My goal is:
- single turbo
- to keep the stock cats (in case i get pulled over (i'm in CA))
- stock manifolds.
- decent power increase (i'm not looking for big power, 320whp would be fine)
- ease of uninstall/install for emission purposes
side note: I want to WELD MY OWN KIT BECAUSE it's MORE FUN THAT WAY.
What if I had the turbo placed where the turbonetics is located and have the exhaust tubing come after the cats to the turbo like the STS?
My question is the turbo size... i'm assuming there would be a lot of lag with the turbonetics' turbo.. I was thinking of maybe using a t3/t04e. Would that be too small? please advise.

For the money and time you'll invest might as well get the turbonetics full kit. This is not a honda motor where you can maybe fabricate/weld your own piping together easy, GL though!

If you stealth coat the FMIC, the cop "might" mistake an APS single for a fancy intake...

time and money isn't an issue. I want to do it just for the sake of doing it myself. I love the obstacle. That's why it's fun.
anyways, I don't plan to have anything exposed in the engine bay.. I'm going to try to cover everything as much as possible. Plus I don't like the smell of a catless car..
so any insight on the size of the turbo? thanks

I'm not positive how they have a crossover pipe to collect the exhaust gasses fromt he other bank, or even if it's running off both exhaust banks. (although it looks like it utilizes a crossover pipe that wraps behind the motor). Regardless, it will require you to fab at least one exhaust manifold.
It utilizes an HKS gt3037 turbo that is externally wastegated. You might also look at other variants of the gt30r or the turbonetics GTK-450 (To4E).

Another thing. If you're really interested in looking stock under the car it might be easier to just weld in a fake pipe with a fake cat. With a single turbo there's really no reason to use two and it's just a pain to do so.
