It matters because they are selling the kits for USD to the US, which they need to exchange to AU currency, therefore, $7500 USD is worth less AU then it was before, so they need to increase their US prices to keep making money.

It is a little complicated.

Basically it cost them lets say $7500 AUS to make the kit

For them to get back their $7500 AUS they would have to sell the kit at $7800 US since the US dollar is worth less (this is just an example I have no idea of the current exchange rate or value of AUS currency.)

So to them its the same but to us its higher.

Hopes that makes sense

How would that make any difference? You'd still pay the foreign exchange penalty. If anything, it might be even more expensive that way since APS may not be as aggressively trading off profits for market presence in their home market.

It was a joke, hence the little J/K at the end
A flight to Down under is well over $1000 to start..

Yeah, but a joke whose premise doesn't make any kind of sense.

With the current foreign exchange rates, it actually can make sense for foreigners to make major purchases while "vacationing" in the U.S. Probably not for Australians, but definitely for Europeans who can find cheap airfares.

You're making the mistake of thinking that just because APS is an Australian company, that the kit is made in Australia. If it's like other APS products, several of the components are made in South Africa. In addition, they are not making every item in house, so they don't control the means of production. As their costs go up, retail price must, at some point, follow.

Look at the traditional price of the kit since it's introduction...a relative small price hike is expected, and APS has not had to do many.

Look at the price of the Z alone from 2003-2005, the car remained essentially the same, but the price went up. And Nissan makes alot more Z's than APS does turbo kits.

Lets make this simple to understand.
As an example:
If 1year ago $100USD = $100AUD
Today $100USD = $90AUD
The cost APS is charging for the kit did not go up but the US dollar went down so it cost more US dollars for APS to get the same AUD for the turbo kit.

Where the parts come from or where the kit is made in this case dosnt matter what matters is it takes more US dollars to equal Aussie dollars than it did a year ago or 4 months ago. I hope that clears it up for everyone.

Simply put, the value of the US dollar is falling...relative to the Euro and the pound. If you had purchased $7500 worth of Euros or Pounds when the APS was $7500....You would not be subject to a price increase.

From the land down under.

Kits are all put together in the US. Parts sourced, id assume, from oversea's. Everything used to be done localally, but now operations have moved oversea's because of the larger market. Focus has now moved to kits that fit local and american models almost exclusivly.

A kit here costs more then what u guys pay, and is only supplied, fitted and custom tuned by authorised dealers at a cost of a little over 12000USD. These local companys are pocketing a large chunk of change these days, thats for sure. All kits come with 1year warrenty of parts and labour.

Apples and oranges, the kits in the US may seem cheaper because they do not include the exhaust as it is required on sales outside the US.

Also the last I heard shipments of already setup kits is how they came from APS not put together here.
