Fixing the ol headlift and since the motor is coming out I am changing the cams.

New mods coming.

GTM Stage 3 turbo cams
GTM's version of L19's
HKS head gasket
HKS EVC 6
HKS Navigator - with oil temp and egt sensors
AAM stage II fuel system - (I know it's not the best, but my wife bought it for me last Christmas and besides there's nothing else on the market besides the APS extreme system. I don't need everything that comes with the extreme, plus I see mixed reviews. As far as CJM stage 3, I can't wait any longer. Anyway for the power I am looking for the AAM stage II will work.)
GTM cooling fans and shroud
New tune - low and high boost on 91, 93, and a race gas map.

Just so that there is no drama, (people know that Sharif has worked on my car in the past) the reason I took my car to GTM instead of Forged is because I had to take a business trip to Southern CA so I decided to drive my car out there since I used to live in San Diego and hadn't been there in over 8 years. I was able to kill a couple of birds with one stone and visit some friends, drop my car off, and take care of my business trip. Before I knew I had to go to CA on business, I was already making arrangments with Sharif. I was also considering Japtrix since they recently just became HKS certified.

check for any wear marks on the journals caused from improper oil lubrication.

I know when i bought a set of used cams i also did a dye penetration test on the shaft to check for any hairline cracks. This may be overkill but it doesn't hurt.

I believe these are the 11mm ARP 2000 headstuds? Check with Sam on these as I ended up purchasing a set by mistake when looking for actual L19 headstuds. FYI - you can only torque them down to a MAX of 85 ft. lbs. as opposed to 92+ with the L19. I'm in the process of building 2 blocks, so they ended up in one of the engines anyway... But long story short, I bought them originally hearing that they were actually "better" then L19 headstuds... Found out later that they weren't exactly what I thought they were. No big deal, but just so you know in any case.

BTW OP,

another thing you want to check is if the cams were installed by a professional shop or someone who knows what they were doing. The reason i say this is because if the cam caps were not torqued down in the correct sequence and w/ the proper torque then it could warp the cam itself.

Hey buddy!

I am looking at doing my build in October. UMS Tuning is moving so I have to wait until they are moved to start this project.

Why do you have the 3rd motor?

the 3rd motor is just to have another motor. I may do a pretty crazy project with that one........but I mainly picked it up because the price was right.

as long as there is no excessive lobe scoring, 2nd hand cam's are perfectly good. I come from the honda community where cams are slutted around more then bad VRT jokes. 20yr old vtec cams, revved to 9k with double valve springs. these things get a workout. no issues at all as long as the head wasnt bad when they were taken out.

check the lobes and the base circle of the cams. see if there is any runout in the basecircle or on the cam journals.

My motor was built by SGP. While I do have some issues with some of the work that they did on my car, I have to say they built a great motor. I have posted this in the past as well. I am not just saying this to sell my cams.

I will guarantee that they are in perfect working condition. If the buyer has them checked out by a trusted shop before they are install and they claim the cams are no good, I will refund the purchase price after the cams are returned to me. I will also pay for the shipping cost back to me.

Also anyone interested can call Sam @ GTM and ask him if he thinks the cams are damaged or not.
