but there is really not that much load on 1st gear to begin with.. do you have AT or MT, if MT do you have a Lighten FW? I have noticed that since swapping to a lighter FW that my spool suffered especially on lower gear.

maybe it is to late but make sure try 4th gear and start at a low rpm (2500) until 6100-6500 RPM and make sure you are WOT, be sure to make an effort to really push the pedal to get the 100% TPS.

lastly look out for popo coz you really need a long space (Freeway is good) but make sure it is almost empty. It is better to have someone do the logging for you. Be safe

Didn't you say you heard an exhaust leak pre-turbo? That could cause it right there.

Cant really comment on you other issue but UTEC has a tendency to jerk especially when it start to take control. That is one of the problem with Utec, sometimes it feels flawless but sometimes you'll feel that jerkiness when on LOAD.

install error. this is what happens when u dont know what a turbo does, go against everyones instructions (pulling the engine) or to get a pro to install it. You get little problems here and there and its all traced back to install error. You didnt tighten down the bolts on the manifolds correctly and as such a boost leak has formed. the boost leak only needs to be tiny winy for no boost in first gear. not enough pressure in the manifolds which is amplified by the little load in first gear.

Pull the engine, replace all the exhaust gaskets (cause they are busted now) and then u will boost properly. until then, enjoy the pain, suffering and financial loss due to skipping around the fact.

--

I say install error because you say boost in other gears in fine. This would rule out spark blowout, and bad tune...

PS. My APS kit boosts fullboost in every gear, partial throttle.

First you didn't really go WOT (100%TPS) you didn't even hit 90% TPS and still hit around close to 6PSI on 1st gear. Lighter FW will decrease your load especially on the lower gear and lower RPM so expect a little slowness in spooling. Like I said you really have to put some effort on smashing that pedal to get 100% TPS. lastly how much PSI is your Full Boost? but like the other Weqster said you might have a slight exhaust leak but I will try to really get a good log first.

If I'm not mistaken load is set based on you PSI, In my case for every 1psi I increase my load (ie, 1psi=10 column, and 7psi=70 column) since my BCS is only set to 8psi then I don't really see load 90 and 100 unless there is an over boost. It really depend on what parameters are you using, someone can chime and correct me if I'm wrong.

I only am boosting @ 6psi until I get a better tune. Oh is that true about the load psi based? That would make sense then, as I was wot till redline yesterday in 4th and only could hit 70% load at 6.1 psi

Its pretty much impossible for me to go WOT in 1st, it hits redline in like .5 seconds lol... the momentum even spikes to 7k when I shift at 6.5k

So you are set for 6psi? You are hitting 5+PSI on first gear and that is with you not going 100% TPS + you started to hit the gas late around 3000+RPM. Try smashing the pedal (100%TPS) from 1500RPM to redline and I bet you hit full boost on 1st.

Edit: forget it you'll just spin all day... so forget it I think you are fine.

haha ok man I suppose its fine as well, I was just worried because when I didnt go WOT and I just did half throttle, when it hit boost in 1st the wastegates would flutter.. probably just because of the transition from 0% column ecu control to the 10% column ecu control perhaps.. It didnt detect any knock events as that either.

Well.. now im experiencing this strange fluttering in 2nd gear as well. Right as I go into boost, it seems like I am hitting fuel cut or my wastegates are fluttering open/closed and I cant go anywhere past 2PSI. Very strange... hard to describe.

3rd gear is fine... :P

I have a good feeling its due to my modified fuel pump, i read this on a post:

You may not wanna drill the holes in the FP canister, you will get WOT hesitation at gas levels 1/4 tank or less. Ive read of TN guys not doing that and they have no issues with that...

Hmm interesting..
