Default New Vortech pulley layout thread

A thread dedicated to the new pulley design for the Vortech SC.

Let's share some info here.. (i.e. belt size, slippage... etc)

I will start,
3.12 pulley fits on the stock belt

My kit reaches a max boost of only 6psi with the 3.33!

i'm confused too, you're wanting belt part numbers and what pulley fits with whatever belt config?

No... it's just a thread to share info on the new design.

For example, FYI you don't need to change the the belt if you wanna go 3.12.

An example question, what belt size if u wanna go 2.87?
advantages and disadvantages?
Is it normal to only get 6psi?

^xav, thats misinformation for this thread.

The new vortech pulley layout for the non revup's has a belt that is nearly 1ft shorter then the old. It uses 1 less stock pulley. It is around 81".

So the 3.12 works with no belt change! Nice! Thatll be my next power mod.
I hit 7-7.5 psi on stock 3.33 pulley. Stock exhaust except for test pipes.

ok it makes more sense now

saying "new belt design" makes me wonder which one? the 06 belt design? TIMROD's belt design, any of the other additional pulley belt designs like GTM's or what I added, or the NEW 03/04 belt design

I honestly don't think many people have much info on the brand new 03/04 belt design and what you can do to it yet

So...which one is the best, based on what is known at this point? Old Vortech routing, New Vortech routing, or TIMROD's setup?

"Best" in this case would be the setup that has the least belt slippage.

id have to see a pic/layout of timrod.

Right now, it would appear that the old vortech non-revup setup would slip less.

The goal is to have the belt friction on the crank pulley be larger then the sum of all the other frictions on the other pulleys. Since the old setup wrapped the crank pulley better, it has more potential friction.

I used to have slipping with the GATES 93" belt on my 3.12 pulley. Now I use the GATES 92-7/8" belt and have no slipping issues.

I know that is correct. You're supposed to run a slightly shorter belt with the 3.12. I talked to a guy over there on the phone, and he recommended 1/2" shorter with the 3.12, and another 1/2" shorter with the 2.87.

So does anyone disagree with this statement? (That the old, longer belt setup is better than the new, shorter one)

from comparing the belt setups, i think TIMROD's setup for the original 03/04 kits grab the belt a LOT better than the new setup. Even more so with the extra pulleys by the jackshaft

But it doesn't make sense that vortech changed the layout to a more slipping design!

I could be wrong though, maybe they wanted to cut the cost

I think the new 03/04 belt design is a little better than the original stock design, but not all that much better

I still think the best setup is going to end up being TIMROD's config with the extra pulleys around the jackshaft
