Default New turbo owner new problems

problem one.

my car idles at around 1100. This is not the problem however it like to hover around 1800 as well. It is very fickle. If i were to push the clutch in while moving it will drop to 1800 and either stay there or flucuate back down to 1100.

So i logged the utec to see what was going on. The utec showed that at all times the TPS was showing 1-2%. this was while it was at 1100. i didn't get to look at it while it was at 1800.

Second problem.
When i first got the car it was running a/f ratios of 11.6 sustained at WOT in 80-100 degree weather. However tonight it was cooler around 77 degrees and my air fuel ratio was around 11.9-12.0.

I don't know what is safe and what is unsafe as far as a/f so any input hre on what i shoould look for would be great.

Third problem.

Im running a TN kit with a open dump running only on the springs. The tune Performance Factory gave me was 360 @ 7.8 psi. However Depending on the time of day and how cool it is i have been hitting up to a constant 9.0 psi with a max peak of 9.8 psi. BTW the time it was running 11.9-12.0 A/F was when it was boosting this high.Even in hotter weather i was getting in the upwards of 8.4 psi holding.only on a rare occasion does it reach a max boost of 7.9. I did what any nervous fi owner would do and i called my tuner. JT told me that the zeitronix map sesnor reads 1 psi of boost off the map sensor for the utec is the reliable one. I thought that is rather strange and really negates the purpose of a boost guage but o well. So i went back and logged my utec again and low and behold the utec and the Zetronix were matching up 100%.

Should my boost be higher than what he tuned me for? I figured with open dumps it would eliminate the possiblity of boost creep and overboost.

I know i did not state and direct questions but i tried to explain my concerns and im hoping to get any input you guys can give me on what i should do. Are there things i need to buy blah blah blah.

Should i move to a tial wastegate? 38mm? 44mm?
Should i add a boost controller to hold the boost?

My main concern is as it get even colder down here around 50-60 degrees will i be hitting 10-11 psi because that will for sure blow my stock block.

your cars idle was raised up to 925 with the cipher, the stock tach always reads high.

believe me, when your car hovers at 1800 for a second, its a good thing, a lot of these cars go all the way down and just about stall when they do.

ALL of the utecs show 0-4% with no TPS, and 99-104% at WOT

this is really 0-100% everytime, just not calibrated on the utec. will not hurt anything as long as its consistent.

you are using a zeitronix wideband, rated the WORST of all the widebands, your tune is dead on, trust me. i have tuned many many TN kits.

again, with the boost, you are using a zeitronix again, their map sensor always reads high. even if the kit is making 9 psi sometimes, which would be 1 psi over what the wastegates springs are at, that would be just fine.

you might possible overboost under 1 psi but that is it. even with the TN WG.

as long as you dont mess with anything, you will NOT blow your stock block, i have told you all this on the phone and i am sure you just want to hear 100 people you dont know back me up... stop worrying and stop listening to forums and people who dont deal with this every day. you will be just fine!!

It's not uncommon to need a brief touch-up tune with the UTEC...when the weather changes. Since it's getting a little colder, why dont you just have them touch it up for you? Something like that should take just a few quick pulls around the block....if all that is needed is a little fuel enrichment.

At least you are keeping an eye on things.....if you keep that up....your engine should last a long time.

Are you running an RFS?

I never doubted His tune i know it has nothing to do with that i'm thinking just some things may be going out of wack because somthing maybe i have done or just somthing that may have happend. I rep the JT tune like its my granmothers Apple pie. Best in the world =P

no rfs just 650 injectors

lol i just have no room for error and i know JT was tiered of hearing my concerned voice over the phone. When he knows its good. i was just more concerned about as it gets colder the big diffrence in the boost.

I wasnt really worried its friends that ask me those questions like why does your **** idle so high... your boostin 9.0 i thought you said you were 7.8 blah blah blah people always ask about some faults and i simply say dude JT tune get off my nuts =]

- mrev2 and 5/16 spacer but im trying to do some reasearch on what is the best for fi.

-meth kit so i can run teh 420hp safer.
Need some opinions on snow vs aqua

-CJM RFS

-Planning a turbo swap as well. Looking into a GT35r or a GT-k550 leaning more towards the GT-k

your tune will definately change due to air temp changes. I just adjust my base fuel pressure for summer or winter. it's quite simple, but, of course, you need a return fuel system to do this.

I also do this, but as I raise base fp, the part throttle driving hiccups more. Might not be a problem at 9psi though...

I supose a retuen fuel is what i will get next then. Because i just got back from logging the utec agian tonight and both my zetronixs was reading 9.5psi and the utec was saying 9.5psi and the zetronix was logging a consistant 11.9-12.1 A/F. It was 78 degrees outside. I supose i will buy a RFS and take is back to get it retuned.
