How do you know they're high quality. Please explain your reasoning/reasearch in detail...

My buddy has these on his G35, I found them to be nicely constructed, they start up/calibrate quickly and asthetically pleasing. Color is RED. Nice match in the Z's interior. They do NOT have some features that the Defi BF series has...but honestly, not EVERYONE needs these extra features.

Personally, I think this is a great option for those who want a stand-alone gauge. With the Defi's, you're stuck getting the controller even if you may or may not use all the features if you want a red/amber guage.

No doubt defi has been proven to be the best, but this one seems like a great ALTERNATIVE but I will wait at least 6 more months before giving my full seal of approval (long term results are needed).

It's just too early to say if these are on par with Defi's. I would compare these to the old D-Series or the Blue Racer series since these are stand alones.

Speaking of the Blue Racer Series, did they end up ever releasing the red/amber versions?

X lines are mechanical so tend to be a bit off, as many mechanical boost gauges are

the DSD are electronic though and so far, have been spot on for us on Evo's, STi's and a couple s/c'd S2k's

hey guys:

Just found this post. Yeah, we have been selling Defi since 2003 and found this alternative a few years ago. These gauges actually took about 3 years in preparation before it was released earlier this year.

While being a distributor for DEFI, we found alot of people who likes the Defi type gauges (sweep + smoke lens) but don't want to pay the money for them, hence we started to carry STRI gauges.

The manufacture that produce STRI was producing gauge unit for commercial airline and heavy industries equipment. They have been doing commerical gauges since the early 80s. They spent the last 3 years in development and testing before they finally released the gauge in 2006 to Japan and Europe market.

They also R&D and produce the B&M gauges in 2006 which won the best production reward from SEMA 2006 !

Yes, it's not as good as the DEFI gauges, but who are ? DEFI which are manufacture by Nippon Industries which also OEM cluster for Mazda, Subaru and many other car manufacture. I think these are just as good as Defi and cheaper alternative for those who doesn't want to spend $700 on a 3 gauges setup of Defi.

You can get these through Z1, I know Adam will take care of my350z users !

As for the quality, if anyone are going to SEMA, you can stop by booth # 20397 to check out the these gauges and the new gauges releasing next year including a match wide band 02 gauge and blue LED series.

STRI will be giving 10 x boost gauge away per day during the entire length of the show !

Zilvia, thanks for the post !! I didn't know your made this post. I was just lurking around here to check out some of the drama I heard from other people on the FI section.

That wouldn't be our car would it? I should have some pics up shortly with the guages. They definately look sweet. Quality and finish is superb. If your not needing those extras, this is definately the way to go.

do you know if the front bezel is the same diameter as the defi 52mm gauges?

basically, will the Defi "pointer" trim ring fit onto these gauges?

^ The 350z cluster needs the 60mm gauges. You want the red/amber ones. The picture above on the G35 are the 52mm gauges.

The amber in these is a bit more red than the oem Z cluster color. The Defi gauges are also more red than amber in relation to stock cluster.

My cheapo stewart warner gauges with custom amber LED matched PERFECT, but the gauges were not the best. They were definitely great for the money considering I filled an entire triple pillar for about half the price of one Defi
