I was driving down the highway when all the sudden my car started bogging down and my tcs/slip/SES lights came on. When I pulled over the sound at idle was horrible it was so loud I couldn't even tell where it was coming from. It had a feeling it was the S/c but it was dark and I had no tools. I had it towed into town and the next morning I pulled the s/c cog tensioner and belt and the sound went immediately away. Today I pulled the S/c to find this......
No warranty, it was on the car when I bought it and vortech said its non transferable. I sent it in once already back in april or so to have new seals and bearings installed.
None of the metal should be able to make it through the IC. It looks like some metal was sucked into the blower . The edges of the fins are all chewed up . Did any thing drop out when you took off the filter ?
think maybe one of the blades got fatigued and let go and thats why te others are chewed up so bad?
yes the internals can be replaced, vortech will probably charge nearly 600 bucks. I dont know how much a new blower cost but it may be best to get a new one thatll carry a 1 yr warranty.
The only other odd thing i saw was there was some fine oil sprayed around the area where the oil feed line is. The connection was good and I didnt see any breaks in the line......
There is a decent amount of oil around there, I replaced the filter when I sent it into vortech back in april and it still looks clean. where else should I check for a leak?
Was the filter extra oily ? Even if the oil feed line was leaking a little , which probably was the case . You still would be getting enough oil to the blower .
I can't be w/o a car so i need to rig up an intake but what should i do about the oil feed and oil drain? Anything else i need to do b4 I can drive?
disconnect the IC pipe before the MAF and put some type of filter on it . I just cut up a furnace filter and clamped it on . The oil feed line can be shoved into the drain line and clamped on . Reset the ECU or disconnect the battery for 12 hours . You should be good to go .
