Default Ceramic coatings for Greddy with pics.

Hello all.

I just purchaced a Greddy kit and will be having it installed in a few weeks so in the meantime I took the manifolds, turbo housings and downpipes to a local guy to have them ceramic coated today.

I did a search and found this thread: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....eramic+coating
I believe the the general concensus from this thread was that ceramic coatings could be benifical for 1) increasing horse power and 2) reducing temperatures under the hood. However the turbos mentioned in this thread have ball bearings and are water cooled and mine are not.

The question I have is could the increased heat inside turbo cause potential problems to the sleeved bearing of the Greddy? The other question is the guy that is doing the coating said it would be best to coat both the inside and outside of the housing and said that there would not be any clearance issues due to the coating only being 1/1000 of an inch thick, but everthing i've read has said not to coat the inside.

What do you guys think?

You MUST have them coated with atleast 2000 degree coating. I think you will be fine with the housings aslong as you get the temp I said. I think the downpipes might be a waste of money since the are so small. I had my greddy manifolds coated with Jet Hot 2000 and then purchased some turbo blankets made of inconel, that many supras use, for my housings.

The coating on the downpipes and manifold is a 2000 degree coating and a 2400 degree coating was used for the housings.

Looks pretty good. I am thinking I'll have my turbonetics piping coated before the install. Can I ask how much all that cost you?

^ I've heard good stuff about Performance Coatings (I think thats the name) in Auburn, Washington if you're looking at getting it done.

I'm sure I can just have them take off my manis and turbos and re-install them?

I did that to my APS TT kit a few year ago. They still look exactly the same to this day:

Thanks everone.

Spoils- My coating cost $460 and was done by a local guy in Dallas(http://www.engineceramics.com/index.html). HPC and Jet-Hot estimated between $500-550 but keep in mind that I had to have 2 turbo housings coated and you will only be charged for one. If you are considering doing this with a turobnetics you should probably read this first:https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ramic+coatings And maybe talk to Sharif.

Madelinot- That looks awesome! It makes my flat black coating look, well... flat. Glad to hear ceramics haven't flaked off, that's been one of my concerns.

P.S. I dropped my car off @ SGP today and will post with pics and info when I get it back.

^ good info in that linked thread. Thanks much, looks like I will spend the money elsewhere and wrap the piping.
