Default Car wont rev past 4k rpms?

Just finished up with my n20 install and when I was leaving the shop, I was passing a car, so I downshifted into 5th gear and when the rpms hit 4k, it wouldnt go past 4k?

It felt like it was misfiring and felt like that was where the fuel cut/rev limiter was set to. The shop that did the install tapped the ecu when they wired the window switech (60 for throttle and 50 for tps). The car drives fine up to 4k because I drove 160 miles home after the install. The car freely revs all the way to redline when not in gear.

What could be the issues??

Brian

I have nothing to offer as far as a solution, but I am curious...why didn't you just turn around and go back to the shop that did the work?

Exactly. why would you drive 160 miles home with this issue?

IMO, best case scenario it is just limp mode and could be resolved by resetting the ecu. Could be a slue of many other things. I am just dumbfounded how people turn to the forum rather than the shop that did the work

Well I didnt go back because I left the shop at 7pm and didnt notice the problem until I was an hour from the shop (I was about 50 miles from the shop but an hr away because of traffic) and they closed at 6; they are also not open on the weekend. I plan on calling them on Monday, I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue.

A rule with aftermarket shops is to never pick up on Friday night when they are closed on weekends!

The shop I usually deal with always test drive my Z after they install a mod or service it. The shop that installed your kit should have test driven it first before handing the keys back to you. They would have realized there was a problem if they had done this.

^I agree and I'm a little upset about it but I cant do anything about that now...just wondering if anyone has encountered it so I can fix the problem

I performed the ecu reset procedure on the TS website and also unplugged the battery; the SES light went off but it still wont rev past 4k rpms in gear....

Dynotune. What happend was the tps/window switch was wired to turn on when the car is turned on, and not when I arm the system (which it should only turn on when I arm the system). Just have to rewire the window switch and everything should be ok

I had a similar issue with my Lexus IS300 when I hooked up my nitrous set-up. Shop eccidentially sent a charge into the ecu when testing for which wire was for the TPS (i believe). Ended up frying part of my ECU. Shop replaced the ECU at no charge to me, and got me some new keys to work with the ECU.

I know I know JT...Im saving up so I can get a utec and get it to you. In time my friend

Update: The temporary fix: I set window activation to 7500rpms and since I cannot rev that high, fuel wont be dumped into the motor; now I can rev all the way to redline.
