Default JETPILOT Who?????

Yeah..... remember me? For those of you that remember my TT project started in June the end may be in site.

Since deciding in June to remove my Turbonetics kit from my built motor and move to a Greddy TT setup an endless amount of sh*t has happened.

My built engine failed which was sent to GTM who built it originally to be inspected and rebuilt. That took about 2 months to get back to Sharif. I also added GTM turbo cams and JWT springs and retainers.

When Sharif got the engine back he tried to put in the head studs and found a stripped thread in the block. The engine was sent out to a local machine shop to have the threads chased. The engine came back and the threads wouldn’t hold. The engine was sent out again to have the block drilled and a threaded insert put in the block. All that took about 2.5 months.

Sharif’s mechanics were fired/left and left him without any help so the going has been slow at his shop.

Sharif got the engine in the car the other day and tried to fire up the motor and the UTEC lit on fire before blowing a fuse. Luckily it still works.

Sooooo it looks like the end may be in sight. With any luck I will get my car back in a week or 2… 6 months later.

Thanks to Jeremy who worked on the car a loooooong loooooong time ago, and Thanks to Sharif for putting humpty back together again on his dime.

I forgot what it’s like to drive a Z.

very cool jet. i am glad after all the long process , the car is back and running well. any numbers on the new set up yet??

as far as the stripped out headstuds, i thnk that happens when people take them out with a impact gun, we always do them by hand for that reason. kinda sucks sometime but i am sure AJ doesnt mind

to sharif, that really sucks about your two main guys dipping out. i know how it is to find long term, loyal help. luckily i have had AJ here since day one and i dont think he is going any where. good luck with everything.

Nothing ever goes perfect in a build. Seems like ALL of us have had our fair share of issues. Congrats on getting closer to the finish line. And props to Sharif for working through the issue with you... Good luck and keep us posted

Are you going to keep the car? I know at one time you posted that you had moved on from this platform to a new project, but after all this you may end up keeping it?

Larry,

Glad to hear that there is light at the end of the tunnel. You have been waiting for so many months since GTM and Forged wanted the motor back. I hope you keep the car. You have so much time, money, and energy invested in it, and it's one of the best looking Zs out there.

Keep us up to date on the delivery date!!!!

Clarification please: The motor was built by GTM and failed. Then GTM rebuilt it and when Sharif got it, a block bolt thread hole was stripped.

Wouldn't that mean it should go back to GTM to be fixed instead of having Sharif fix it? Or was this not feasible?

Shipping from FP to GTM isn't cheap for an entire engine.. I'd imagine that not being cost effective.

exactly. it is much cheaper just to drill and tap one hole for a timesert, than it is to ship a motor across the county and back. Drilling and tapping the block for one hole is about a one hour job at most. I'm sure Sharif could handle that at his shop if he needed to or send it to a local machine shop. No sense in wasting money on shipping for that.

I thought you were going to wait until we are done, Larry!

Anyways, yeah, its been a long road, but I thought it was the right thing to do...all things considered. Too many people touched this car, and it makes no sense to try and point fingers. Everyone just stepped up to make this happen...and Larry will be back on the road in a few days time.

In regards to Devon and Chris, those are private matters, but I can tell you that Devon was homesick, and moved back home, and Chris no longer works here. We have two new technicians that are amazing, and we're nearly back up to full speed again. It just means that I have to spend more time in the shopping...getting dirtier. Thanks for the concern.

Thanks for hanging in there.
