Definitely gotta give props to Vortech for addressing the problem and for extending the warranty from 3-5 years. That puts my mind at ease.

I would think that if your serial # falls within the range that Vortech said could possibly have defective bearings, you would automatically have it extended.

This is what I still don't understand.

If they've seen the returns and they know what's been causing it, why are so many people having to rebuild theirs? IMHO, having your SC rebuilt 2-4 times in 1-3 months is completely unacceptable.

The worst part is the 3 week downtime but I wasnt so upset the 2nd time because I was about to go on a 3 week vacation anyways. Also I do the work (install) myself so it wasnt too bad.

well, i am sure that they needed to get to the bottom of it. at first, it probably seemed like it was just coincidence with a couple blowers. then after a few more happened around the same time, it probably made them start investigating the issue. if you own a company and you use the same exact proven parts for your item, then something strange happens, you will have to get to the bottom of it. it could have been the housings, the bearings, installer error, the oil lines, oil fittings, ect at first.

i am just glad to know they got to the bottom of this. its very possible they had to get the truth out of the bearing company, which could have taken a while.

as i said before, i am sure that after your blower comes in one time for warranty, that cuts down the overall profit for Vortech by A LOT. they want to make sure this issue is resolved 1000 times more than the consumer who is dealing with their own personal blower situation. i am glad to see them step up and take control of the issue so we can all get back to having fun with our supercharged VQs.

So, will Vortech be covering the labor costs to remove and send the blowers back?

That's one of the few advantages of going with a shop as opposed to DIY. GTM covered all of the labor costs when my SC went bad. But like Alberto said, I seriously doubt that Vortech will cover any labor costs. It's gotta be costing them a pretty penny just to fix all these SC that went bad as it is.

Good of Vortech to publicly (I guess a private email that Jeremy shared works) address the problem.

However I still don't understand how some people have had multiple failures unless they we're rebuilding the blowers with the same defective bearings. But it doesn't seem like the time line makes sense in that case.

Alls well that ends well I suppose.

I have to say that Vortech is handling this pretty well. It's plenty more than others like Stillen or STS would've done! I'm glad mine was produced well before these batches...

i think that it took them a while to figure out that the bearings from the company they buy them from were different ones. im sure it was a major shock for Vortech at first. which such a great track record previously, you would tend to not understand why a few blowers malfunctioned at the same time...

Never heard of any Stillen failures of the unit itself like the magnitude of failures of Vortechs...Too bad considering how many people have and love the Vortech....

I'm sure that there are still a few Vortechs out there that were sold this summer that haven't gone bad yet. But that's why they extended the warranty from 3 years to 5 years.

yeah, its too bad no stillen sc will make 350whp on a DD much less a dynojet. I wish the kit had more potential. I really wanted a roots style blower and was even willing to settle with the hood issue. I just know ill want to upgrade later to more power.
