Default Blown again

Trying to figure out why vortech is blown again. I sent to Vortech and they fixed bearings. It was reinstalled and ran great for a day. I shut car off and went to restart 2 days later and the noise is back and worse than ever. WHAT is going on?

that sucks. When did they work on it? Just a couple weeks ago?

btw where'd you dyno at?
438whp and 351 tq are some pretty good numbers for just the 3.12 pulley, JIC Y-pipe, and exhaust - unless I'm reading your mods list wrong

not yet

had a jackshaft bearing go bad after about 2000 miles. That's been about it

I have about 9000 miles on my kit to date, 27K total miles on the engine

For me, if my blower actually went bad, I'd just trade it in for an Si-trim for $300 or whatever it is

Same here. Hopefully there will be no further issues with my SC but if it should go bad sometime down the line, I'll be upgrading to the Si trim too.

To the OP, that really sux bro. Hopefully Vortech will step up and take care of you here. Going bad again that fast is not good.

What would be the Si trim? Is that something new in the Vortech S/C?
I am planning on buying one pretty soon, as I am not going to put on the APS TT I had originally bought.

Si-trim is a new blower vortech makes that seems to be slightly more efficient and is rated to rev to a higher max rpm than the stock SC-trim blower

why not go with the APS TT? looking for being CARB legal?

It's said forever that t was being going to be CARB legal, but never has happened. Haven't seen any updates on it since way back, when I bought it.
Wish it was, I'ld go that way, but CA just isn't that way.

yeah IMO they never had a chance since they were replacing the fuel injectors

the JWT kit should have been the first turbo kit out of all the turbo kits to become CARB legal and it never did. It even used the stock injectors for the basic kit

Well, S/C supposedly fixed. Vortech claimed that the impeller failed due to the cog belt being too tight. Is that possible? I think they are fos but I hope it doesn't blow again.

If your tightening the belt too much, then you are definitely putting too much stress on the bearings, and they will fail quick. The tighter you've got the belt the quicker they will fail.

Which begs the question "how do you know when it's tight enough".. Vortech gives no advice or method for determing it..

it shouldnt squeal at start up. you should be able to turn the belt about 45- 60 degrees with 1 finger.

then do a logged pull and make sure that the boost is linear. i loosened mine almost 4 turns and still no slip. my bearings in my alternator and water pump thanked me.
