Default Hks F-con Question

I have a simple question about the vpro. Does your cruise control still work with this installed? Is there anything else that doesn't work with the V-pro? Thanks in advanced.

there's a way to make it work, but the wiring is more involved

I can't stand the concept cruise control and not having your foot near the brake pedal at all times so I opted for the easier wiring

all you have to do is read the TPS from the TPS sensor in the throttle body rather than at the accel peddle so that the FCON see actual throttle position.

All the current FCON Harnesses come pre-wired correctly for cruise control functionality, right out of the box. It's been this way for the past year.

Cruise control and traction control work....everyone works.

Thanks everyone for the responses. That was the answer I was hoping for. Is there anything else that won't work. Also I remember some one said you always have a cel light on with the F-con. Does this still happen?

Generally yes, but you may be able to reflash to remove constant "trivial" codes (due to stock ECU not being in control) - contact UpRev or look up their Osiris product. Sam at GTM has this ability also.

My cruise did not...it just kept accelerating... it doesn't matter now though since I replaced the steering wheel.

There are 2 ways to wire the TPS signal for the F-Con Vpro. One is the way it comes wired in the HKS PnP harness, which is tapping the vehicles TPS sensor, this method allows your cruise control to work, but creates possible drive ability issues due to the fact the your injectors will not shut off completely on decel because the drive by wire system does not close the throttle body 100%, therefore the VPro still thinks you are on the throttle.

One way to overcome this, is to increase the minimum TPS voltage on the V-Pro parameter settings, the downfall to this is that you will have slight delay in throttle response.

The other method involves getting the TPS signal from the APP sensor rather than the TPS sensor, this way the gas pedal movement will determine when the V-Pro needs to shut off the injectors. The end result is crisp throttle response, and proper injector shut off on decel. The downside is your cruise control will no longer work properly.

What we do is offer our customers the two options and they can choose what they rather have, cruise control, or crisp throttle/proper injector decel shut-off.

My personal car no longer has cruise control, since I prefer the better throttle response. (Originally had cruise control but switched it)

Hope this helps,

I was waiting for this reply, I knew about this but didn't want to jump the gun.

Just an update, with the Haltech now reading in the factory CAN - we can monitor cruise control status: on/off. This allows complete 0ms cut for crisp throttle response, and still have functional cruise control Best of both worlds!!

Let's keep the information coming. I appreciate all the info, help and answers. I've been on the fence with the F-con since the release of haltec and the up coming Pro EFI.

I don't think you can go wrong with either a Haltech or F Con Vpro.

Thanks George. I'm most likely looking for the impossible. A ems that will work flawlessly with no bugs and hiccups. Like a stock ecu in the car. I'm not looking to go with crazy with power, currently at 401rwhp on a mustang dyno and stock block. I want to replace my utec but I haven't been convinced as to which one to go with.

That is not impossible, a properly tuned standalone should run like a factory car, especially at 400rwhp.

We just put a VPro on a friend of mine's Supercharged G35C, car made 450rwhp, and if it wasn't for the noise of the blower, you wouldn't know its modified, running 600cc denso injectors btw.
