HKS Turbo
Guys,
I have just come off the phone with HKS Thailand and he has been trying to tell me that when I buy a 350Z I need to make sure that it is the xxxxxx model because if I get the xxxxxx model then I will not be able to install the HKS Turbo he mentioned that I should get a 2005 model but after that I was struggling to understand what he was saying (Translation problems).
So my question is do I need to pick a certain 350Z model with a certain engine type so that I can increase the HP to +/- 380 hp????
Thanks

From 2003 to 2007 the 350Z has used 3 different engines.
2003- Standard VQ35DE
2005- Rev-up VQ35DE
The above 2 engines will work with most turbo kits with minor modifications (or none at all). Most superchargers will not work with both because the location for mounting the SC is different on the 2 engines. The standard and Rev-up motors have many minor differences like the rods, pistons, valve controls, intakes manifold, etc.
2007- New VQ35HR
This is the new version of the motor with very different internals, dual throttle bodies and intakes, etc. I think just about any FI kit would need to be heavily modified to work with the newer "HR" motor (the dual TB's being the biggest obsticle).

Was it the HKS twin turbo system or the HKS single turbo system?
I'm guessing they may have been referring to the single turbo system, which is mounted on the drivers side and impossible to install on a US spec LHD car. You'd have to get a RHD 350z to run the ST.
The HKS TT system shoudl be compatible with all 350z's as far as I know, unless the bolt pattern for the exhaust manifolds has changed on the new HR motors. I say this because the HKS TT system includes absolutely no intake piping whatsoever, and can be mounted to a dual throttle body HR motor.

Good point. I think GTM used the HKS manifold's on the VQ37HR they did (G37).
