^Word.

Question, so will these built trannys handle road racing abuse or is it primarily for the drag guys?
FI for about 10K with 0 issues. Cooler installed about a month after FI

I was thinking toward going F/I sometime myself. I've heard from some buddies that the stock A/T should be good to 450 or 500 with no upgrades but definitely plan to run an upgraded VB and TC just to be sure the transmission can put the power down reliably.

I planned on using a Turbonetics setup on a stock motor at a slightly conservative 7.5 psi, which is what I'm told is pretty near the safe limit for the stock VQ35, and I suspect an upgraded VB and TC should have no problem with this. If you're running crazy numbers with a twin turbo and built motor, a fully built transmission is a must to ensure drivetrain durability, I'd imagine.

That said, I'm in the same boat looking at possible transmission upgrades, and am leaning towards SGP at the moment.

IIRC there were a few guys with the built trannies that went out for fun and tracked their cars with no issues. Maybe they'll chime in with their experiences. I think GTM had a customer do this as well.

This thread has been very helpful thank you everyone for the info. I was in the shop last night looking a budies car and a couple months ago I picked up an S4 and love the way a turbo car feels to drive. now I have the itch to throw a turbonetics kit on the Z. I swear it is a disease. but I don't want a cure.

That depends on the amount of boost you're running and ambient temps at the track. For any sustained hard road racing at higher temps the fluid will quickly reach excessive temps and the trans will go into safe mode. Maximum trans fluid cooling is an absolute must.

I havent logged a full 1-2-3-4 run but on the 3-4 shift I go from 7.7psi to 8.4psi and back down to 7.8psi in about a 1/2 second. The 8.4psi peak only shows on my log for 1/10 of a second. This is on the waste gate springs. I can live with that. I'm still tuning AFR so ignition timing is soft for now, if that has any effect on it I dont know.
