Default SplitSec Box vs. Emanage Ultimate

After looking through a lot of threads, I noticed that a lot of people don't like the Emanage Ultimate. I know the Emanage Blue had lots of problems and people were blowing engines because of it, but is there anything specifically wrong with the EU?

This will be for a JWT TT application, so my choices are SS Box (Vortech model with Map Sensor) or EU. For a stock block, ~400whp basic build. I don't think I need a UTEC and when I had a Vortech, the SS box was rock solid for me. Tim@SFR also runs the SS box on his TT setup and it's been good to him. So, my question is if the EU with worth the extra over the SS.

depends on what your looking for . I heard the EU still has problems . The SS box will not cause a bunch of problems and does the job . I would go with the Utec my self if I had a TT setup . Thats if I wasnt willing to spend the money or trying to push the motor for higher hp

Ultimate and Utec are not that far away in term of prices so why not just use utec?

I hear the UTEC is not that great and I know a few people who have had some trouble with it. I can get the EU pretty cheap used.

You're overreacting and misreading. The UTEC is still a more solid EMS.

I'm on SS and doing fine on my Vortech. I think it may be best to ask whoever you plan on tuning the car.

HKS V-pro and call it a day. If you cherish your engine, you would not think twice about it.

does the SS Box do injector pulsewidth tuning like the E-Manage?

Its been a long time since I have done a SS box that I cant recall exactly what it is capable of. I am doing a Vortech install for a guy hopefully on Saturday and we are gonna do 440's, walbro, and APS mini-return from the turbo kit rather than the vortech FMU and additional pump. However, if the SS box doesnt do injector pulsewidth tuning, I am not sure if this combination is going to work. Guess I need to pull out the SS wiring diagram and see if it wires to all the injectors or if its MAF only fuel tuning.

The SS box cant control bigger injectors for idle .....Ive tried . Seems the ECU is always trying to off set what you try to adjust .
I got a flash for idle and start up for the 550 injectors I run

In the fuel maps a [10] in a cell . Means no adjustment to stock fuel trim . If you go to ....say [ 9.8 ] it will shorten the pulse width . And ...say [ 10.4 ] will lengthen the pulse width . Dont know if Im explaining it right or not though .

so youre saying it does attempt to do pulsewidth adjustments but in your experience its unsuccessful with this car?

for idle yes...it's unsuccessful . Until you go WOT [ close or open loop...can remember ] the ecu always tries to adjust . At WOT you adjustments take effect .

thats pretty typical... even with a emanage or anything. the closed loop cycle will be trying to correct. your best to just use a MAF correction to assist and let the closed loop figure out the rest, then into boost you turn off the MAF correction so that there is no timing advance from it seeing less load, and you use injector pulsewidth extension for your extra fuel
