Talking Turbonetics single turbo kit

Whats everyone think about this kit? I just puchased it and its sitting at my mechanics shop right now, really excited and can't wait to get it on, just wanted to make sure there are no horror stories about this kit b4 i drop off the car. I've had a few bad experiences of my own back in the days of Boostin my celica gt-s. It was a nightmare, just seein if this will be smooth sailin???

lol.........you should have done your research. There are a high number of blown motors from turbonetics, but theres also a bunch of turbonetics kits out there so the percentage is decent.

Be wary of the ac line issue, wastegate issue and over boosting.

Searching here for a few hours may just save your motor.

Isnt it a little too late to be doing research? You said that you already bought it.

So what kit would you guys recommend? Single or Twin?

And say if someone (me) were to get a turbo kit, what exhaust would you guys also recommend? I have read many threads on this forum stating that the HKS exhaust is for NA tuning...and that the Greddy exhaust is for FI..but there are 2 different Greddy exhausts written about on this forum...so would I be looking for the Evo-TT or the Evo-2? Or are there other exhausts that you guys would recommend?

Sorry for jacking your thread...

Evo TT if boostin, id recommend you go with the powerlabs gt35r kit.
expensive but well worth it.
you dont have to cut, or tap anything

wrap or move your ac line. Get a 90 dollar manual boost controller then set it and forget it, lol. Buy a UTEC as well.

My turbonetics kit had no problems and over 15k miles on her! However, you will wish you had gotten the greddy twins in a year or so.

Thanks 06dieselZ,

I heard dozens of sound clips on YouTube for the Evo-TT, but I'm not there in person to actually know how it sounds. Is it a deep-tone sound? I want like a V8/muscle car sound...not a fart can honda sound. Is there also a drone sound when the car is idle? I know other Greddy exhausts have em' and its damn annoying.

not that I didnt do research, did plenty and the kit sounded the best. I just figured people that have actually had experience with the install would b the best to talk to. Ive heard of the kit being the best that is available on the stock motor

as for wishing it was twin turboed, I dont really think so, Ive heard a lot that the twin is mainly for looks and to say "i have a twin turbo." Ive heard a lot that unless you are planning on doing a full build on the motor, the twins really dont do much more output than would the single turbo.

No, I was referring to the general demeanor of the FI forum lately. It has been very relaxed and... "cordial". Statements like that could... release the hounds, so to speak

single and twin kits are just about on par with each other on stock blocks as far as power output goes. Pushing the kits to their limits is where the differences come through, with the definite edge to the twin kits. But now with the PowerLab GT35R single kit out, that line's been blurred a bit, to say the least I've got over 13K on my TN kit right now no problems, but you'll definitely wanna have it tuned to your car with a piggyback ecu like a UTEC (most popular). Definitely fire wrap the AC line or have a hard line fabbed up in it's place. Happy boosting
