what with the nitrous talk? if he said he didn't have it, he didn't have it.

no one has any reason to make anything up for the sake of a story!

Luie,

You are a lucky son of a gun... well, unlucky for having it happen, but supremely lucky for the minimal damage since it did happen...

Glad everything seems OK...

Sad to see, but at least you broke it while pushing the car and not just cruising down the street.

Isn't there a moto, "if you don't break something, you're not driving it hard enough"?

Man you're lucky. That's a good sized piece, all of the other little pieces must have all blown through. I wonder how your turbo blades look. If they're fine, you really dodged a bullet this time.

Its all good! Its called racing!

When you race you break things thats just how it goes.
I want to run @ 10.5, that half a second faster. I will be changing the FD to a 3.3, and some help with a new shifter/better 60ft, and stay in 4th through the traps, and I think I can get close.

You should install 1 or 2 manifold pressure relief valves to keep from killing parts if it happens again. I think some of them are set for around 35psi, and other for 70-80psi. I found a few with a quick search. The nitrous crowd uses these alot, but I have seen them on blower cars too.

Ok so just got off the phone with Speedtech and Wilsons manifold. These are NOT designed to operate with boosted vehicles. The guy at Speedtech told me that he doesnt recommend it, and I brought up Luie's meth explosion as an example. He said something like "if he bent the hood and blew apart the upper plenum, even if he had this valve it wouldnt have saved him, thats like putting a stick of dynomite in a mailbox, whether the door is open or closed the thing is gonna blow" LOL!!

Wilsons told me they are "supposed" to open at 35psi, so running say 20psi "shouldnt" open the valve but he hasnt heard back from customers running FI if they work. Some have leaked and you can tighten the screws down making the pressure higher needed to open the vlave, BUT then you are limiting the travel for that valve to open should it need to so thats not ideal.

Basically good idea, but not something Im willing to mess with at this time! Last thing I need is these springs weakening over time and having boost leaks.
