I would overbore the block if you already have any oil consumption issues, or have significantly over 20k miles.

but ya guys. i think im gonna go with the cp pistons/eagle rod combo. Im also gonna purchase the l19 studs. HOWEVER, this is my plan ONLY if everythin else is good. If i need headwork and only one piston ring, then that comes first. im just hoping everything else is good so i can just build the block.
Nope, they will hold more.

.020 here with Eagle, CP, and L19's. It's a pretty popular combo.

alright since you are runing my combo, couple of questions.

How much boost are pushing?
Whats your whp?
Why did you go .020? Cylinder wall problems or just because...
and any problems so far with your setup.

I went with the APS ST. And not and issue what soever with the motor. It's solid.

Thanks guys for all this great info, just put a 6 inch hole on my engine block from a busted rod, got a used 30K block coming & im going forged this time, looks like a good setup for me, Presently on ST Turbogenics at 8.5psi, once forged and waste gate ajusted what else would i need to go in the 12-14 psi (or 500 or so hp). ECU... injectors... ive got the basic turbogenics setup.

What would be a good ems for this setup, why will the turbogenics reflash not work for 14psi.

Has anyone heard of any failure with gtm rods? How do GTM's rods compare to lets say carillo h bean rods?

I haven't seen any rod failures from any rod manufacturers....has anyone else? I recall Injected trashed a rod pushing 1200whp or something like that..can't remember what brand. But in the 500-750whp range that most builds are targeting, you should be just fine.

It was the rods that come with the BC stroker kit.

Do you really need the .02 overbore? Save yourself money in machining that really doesn't add up to much of any significant power increase. Too much hype and really no hardcore evidence to demonstrate its worth the coin for machining for .02 of an increase. Stick with stock bore.
Just my .02 cents.

Unless you have oil consumption. Reason why I am going overbore.

Are these things you can DIY or should you take it to a shop?

Most engine builders aren't doing .020 overbore for more power, or increased displacement. Rather, there is no other way to set the piston to wall clearance uniformly across all the cylinders, without doing an overbore. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of Nissan manufacturering variances, since each cylinder wall can vary by a couple of thou. The result would be pistons that might have too much clearance, and other that don't have enough.

Will you have a big issue if you go standard bore? Maybe..maybe not. But still not a chance we take.
