Default Dimming Innovate DB Gauge

I know there is a dimming feature on the DB, but it wasn't hooked up when they installed it. I found the wire, but were can I tap it in too?

I just wired mine up yesterday, and was able to tap into the parking light wire in the driver's kick panel. I thought I was going to have to run a wire from the fuse block in the engine bay, but luckily I was able to find this one.

I referenced this thread to figure out the color (sticky in the Audio Video forum) https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-video/171725-wiring-color-code-guide-for-350z.html. This thread should also be moved there or to the Interior forum.

Here's some pics to help you out though...

Had to cut some of the zip ties holding the loom because it was very hard to bend (one noted in yellow, one further up as well). It's also pretty hard to get a screwdriver up there to pop the clip loose

Glad I could help Oh, this was on a '03 btw, so the wire color might be different on other years.

sorry to bump this thread, but can't you just tap the illumination wire for dimming?

In the manual it says not to hook it up to a rheostat controlled power source...which is what the illumination wire is i think.

Personally, I have not installed gauges in a 350z. With other cars (Supra), If you hook up to the dimmer switch it will do the opposite of what you want. We used a resistor.

For reference, hooking it up to the wire JonnyC showed does work on the 03-06.

^ glad that worked for you. I actually posted that up before I even tested the gauge with my lights on, haha. Tested it the next day to make sure it worked.

It doesn't dim it very well though. I'm thinking about throwing a little tint on it. LOL

I agree. I was like..."wait...that's it?!" Tint would be a good idea. We'll see how much it bothers me first though.
