I remember the 5th and 4th gen maximas had a TCM, but alot of people went ahead and changed the valve springs.. works like a charm. the 1->2 shifts chirped on strong trannies and they didnt have to reprogram the TCM at all.. just thought maybe it was worth a shot for Automagic guys..

you guys contact Level10? They build bulletproof auto trannys with aftermarket torque converters... that handle oodles of power...

The only way a tranny mod could be effective is with a TCM reflash.

I called Level 10 two days ago and a few other vendors. "Their working on it."

I mainly want a TC, I'n not to interested in a shift kit.

If my car gets confused as to what gear to go into I'll set it straight w/o a kit.

Now if someone ANYONE would just address torque management so I don't have to pull out my brake fuse and put it back in every track trip!

A switch could be put in line to make that simpler.......that bluefish guy with the Smithtown Nissan car is talking about installing linelocks or something.

bracket racing is all about the consistency. nothing beats an auto for consistency at the dragstrip

Hell, if that's all he wanted, he should have gotten an '03 Cobra. This car was made for road courses. Not that I'm knocking him or his choices; I just hope he's doing all these mods and still planning to maintain the handling characteristics of the car.

Hey check out this page, it's got some stats on the Procharger specs.....i believe ours is the P-1SC-2:

http://www.procharger.com/models.shtml

825 max. HP!!!!!!....probably lower than that with our base HP of 287, but it sure sounds like there's plenty of room for improvement once we can get bigger injectors and stuff

That or a van full of tools running 18's. I actually lost to that and got 2nd (trophee @ website) because he ran exactly 18.0 all night on every run. Never fouled, never broke out.

People who do not understand bracket racing will never admit that an Auto will beat a 6MT every time.

Especially one with a 3200 stall like I am looking for.

That is why I said my goal is 11.999 because it's a win win situation. I dial in 12.0 every time and stay in all night. If I9 ever did breal out I would have an 11 second car!

As for the 03 SVT Cobra this is a direction I didn't want the thread to go in so let me squash that.

I love the 03 Cobra SVT I wanted one. I think it was doing mid 12's though?

Show me a link to a dealer with a 03 SVT Cobra with an Auto Tranny in it (one of my must haves when I bought my car.)
Because persoanlly (and not to sound rude) I don't think they make the 03 SVT Cobra in Auto which makes your point argumentative and moot.

Peace out and let's keep this clean.

I just spoke with Sue at ATI and EJ spoke with Mike @Alterered (he was racing) and the SC'ers go out Monday! Lots of them!

Woot!

Big power on auto's always seem to have problems.....

So much more driving control with manual. But if your all about the straight line...auto work great.

Do you have anything to add to this thread? I wanted a clean Pro Charger door to track install thread, take the debates elsewhere please.

No smart guy... typically they don't.

I know of two Supras personally running 500+ rwhp on stock AUTO trannies...

Next question.

Ihave a question that will tell everyone how new I am, I guess, but ..... thankx in advance:

If you use the Procharger SC, there is a fuel mgt. function with it.

Would it be necessary ... or useful .... or a waste of money ... or harmful ... or what? ... to also use the Technosquare ECU (or something like it when it becomes available)?

Thanks for answers. And an explanation. JW

Geezer: The ATI Procharger would function much better with an ECU upgrade but the Technosquare one is for stock only right now. I understand that they are working on an ECU flash for FI (forced induction) right now though.

I agree with Bonz,

The ATI SC's FMU would definately benefit with something that can go farther ECU wise but I am still holding out for some type of PNP type unit.

Bottom line is tuning is everything and part of that will involve readings for the tuning.

Right now the only readings I will have is the exhaust temps via a GRedyy guage and wide band sensor tap into my exhuast.

Also considering a true dual 2.5 from the cats back, no resonator of course into another Magnaflow race muffler (I already have one) I just would like to see a pic of how they fit it in there because we would probably make our own for 400 bucks rather than spend 2k. Not much room under there for my car on 18's with a Eibach Pro Kit and ground effects kit.

With a good exhaust reading you can get very important numbers to punch into your FMU. This is better than nothing for now. As mentioned I will Dyno 3 times so any improvements made after FMU adjustments will be reflected. Also Mike is working on ECU programming for these SC'ers it's just he is on the East Coast and I am on the West.

Is it Monday yet?

I wanna run! Got my Micky Thompson 26X10's all ready on 16 in rims. Pontiac rims fit our bolt pattern too (as does Ford)

Nope. They don't have to. Smart guy. If you really went to the drag strips, you'd also see a lot of domestic muscle running on autos, with very good times. Get the right stall converter, and you can have speed and consitency, which is important for true drag cars. Even if a GN has a rebuilt tranny, it costs nowhere near $10K.

Syclones are the same. The tranny might be the weak link, but if maintained, the stocks are good for trucks running in the 11s.

Heh, when you start an argument, and people show you wrong, you "don't want to tie up a thread".

Two noob questions:

1) Is the ATI SC CA smog certified? Someone told me that GReddy turbo system will be smog passable.

2) How long will the engine last with this added stress?
