Low 12's with ATI Procharger?

Default Low 12's with ATI Procharger?

I'm just confused, some people are hoping to get high 12's with the ATI Procharger installed. According to sources, the 350z puts 370 HP to the ground with the kit installed (at 7psi). I've used several Horsepower/Weight to Quarter Mile calculators on the internet, punching in the weights and horsepower for various cars I know of (including a stock 350z), and they seem pretty accurate.

For instance, I plug in 3500 lbs for weight, and 14.0 for 1/4 times, and it says I need roughly 250 HP for that (at the wheels). Well we get that time with only roughly 230-240 HP. But still, it's fairly close.

I plug in 12.3 seconds for 1/4 mile time, same car weight (3500 lbs), and it says I need 370 HP, about what the ATI Procharger will offer.

Now, I understand that traction will become an issue, but say I got wider rear wheels with a stickier tire, could I realistically expect 12.3's with the Procharger (assuming I was a great driver)?

If this is not feasible, then why not? Do FI power curves (specifically SC FI) typically have less area under the curve than N/A power curves, even if their peak power ratings are the same?

Anyhow, this has been bugging me, if anyone can shed some light on this, much appreciated, thanks!

12's seem realistic to me. If you are a good driver, have drag slicks, and have the power then you should be able to. SC's provide power across the entire powerband, so no need to wait for spooling if that's what you meant.

I know others have stated thast the ATI SC is a centrifugal SC (vs root SC like stillen) thus it gains hp as rpm's increases thus it could change times in 1/4 but to dumb me, that seems good because power is linear thus like NA car thus that seems good for traction in 1/4 and predictability on track. To me, if you had all hp at low rpm, you might just be spinning wheels too much. I have heard prototype car has problems with traction as it is until 4th gear but others that install will be ansering these questions VERY soon.

Maybe I am wrong about all of this. Does anyone with EXPERIENCE have input?

I think the fact that your missing is a lot of 350's including mine weigh 300lbs less than 3500. So you plug in 3200 and then 230-240whp and you will have sub 14 second times. Then take that same weight and put 350whp and you will have the possibility to break out of the 12's on slicks. To be honest much over 350whp and most cars just aren't streetable. You would have to ride around on drag radials just to have a chance at traction.

Well, the way that the supercharger works, makes it a little easier to get traction off of idle. I don't know many people that launch at the drag strip at idle though. THe thing with the Turbos, it that power can "hit" really hard and break traction. I had a frind with a 12.3 second Grand National. He would floor it on the street off of idle, the car would take off until about 30 mph, then the turbo would be fully spooled and the tires would go up in smoke. When he dynoed the car, he got 322 HP and 530 ft. lbs. of torque!! He actually started to do a burnout on the rollers there. He was dynoing with a bunch of '03 mustang cobras putting 370 HP to the wheels, but none of them spun their tires on the rollers. They had a linear power increase while his car was more of an instant on sort of thing.

12s will be a walk in the park with with drags.

on the 1/4 mile, tires can cut more time than forced induction sometimes. i bet a stock 350z from the dealership with slicks can do low 13s, mid 13s with drag radials.

but a street tire, supercharged 350z should do 12.5 without breaking a sweat, or you should demand a refund! $5000+ with install, I would hope you get that.

I am doing 13.11 with 60 shots to the wheels on 19 inch wheels with street tires and no prepping. I will be switching over to Holley's new NOSzle system = Direct Port right under each injector. Do i smell 175 shot to the wheels?

I will never have drags on my car or swap my wheels for lighter ones for the sake of race day. I run what i brung. PERIOD!
