What I've gathered from reading the forum for the last couple of years is that builds are getting a bit less expensive. Tuners and customers have learned what's needed and what's overkill. For that I thank them. You don't need many of the parts that were originally put in built engines driving the cost up like cams, sleeves, etc, if you plan on staying under 500rwhp. This has driven the cost down.
Another thing is that many folks forget about are all the supporting mods you'll need like aftermarket radiator, oil cooler, good standalone EMS, etc. Those items add up quickly.

I'm not FI yet but I'm going about it backwards. First all the supporting mods and then FI. This way the last hit won't be as painful bahaha

People can save 4-5k just opting for twins or singles in the first place

Just to give you an idea of what to expect - I bought my car with F/I already done 6 weeks ago and have already spent the following.

$1280 - oil change, repair cracked TN downpipe, repair blown AC line and fail PA emissions inspection

$440 - Defi boost gauge and an A/F gauge w/shipping

$85 - dual pod A pillar w/shipping

$3500 - Larger injectors (650), fuel rail return system, Utec, new Walbro fuel pump, gauges installed and tuning

$2000 - LED conversion, new headunit, sirius radio, bluetooth, V1 in mirror install and I-pod dock (this is not F/I, but still spent $$)

Thats just so I can have a level of confidence that my car may not be a ticking bomb with my stock motor and TN reflash. I will now start saving for my motor build and new clutch since its just a matter of time. The money to get started is just the start - its the upkeep that may hurt the most. I'm so glad I gave up gambling for modding, at least I have something to show for pissing money away

With the current price increase on Greddy stuff, figure about $12K for a solid TT setup installed and tuned. Havent had a stock block TT blow up yet, that we installed and tuned, except for the mad scientist downshifting incident.

You'll be fine with the stocker, as long as its installed and tuned correctly. As others mentioned, the thirst for more power can be overwhelming, but if you can be satisfied with 375whp-400whp, you'll be looking good. That's nearly double the factory engine output.

Sooo True! I am over $45k now but $15k was wasted on a POS APS ST and not going with Sharif @ Forged Performance the 1st time.

Good luck with that. . . . Moar power is always needed.
