not so much an alternative, but something different. a guy i know came across these and has been using them as boost controllers on multiple vehicles. they are mechanically and electrically the same as the Perrin units. im about or pic on up myself, and you cant beat the price. http://airinc.thomasnet.com/item/air...12vdc?&seo=110

i guess if you trust it go for it.... $500 for a very good ebc is pennies compared to the rest of the system.
