I use the seperate IAT sensor (not the one in the MAF) on the Haltech. Watch the monitor as you spray test meth its awesome stuff. LEss than $20 for that sensor, I LOL'd @ the price of that unit....

This is just not a IAT monitor, this unit displays the temperature before and after the intercooler, and also displays the difference between the two so you may know how effective your intercooler and or other cooling source is on the fly.

I can honestly say that this is probably my best supporting mods next to having a Meth kit, expensive but having boost will empty you pockets regardless.

While not an IAT monitor, the outlet temp at the I/C has to be very close to the temp going thru the MAF and into the plenum..?

Not to knock on the expensive but sweet IAT gauge parade - but does anyone know of a cheaper alternative for an independent sensor/gauge setup? I don't need a before and after reading, would like to just install a sensor before the throttle body and have a small digital display in the cabin.

My guess is it will. I have the exact one GTM is selling....( BTW I paid way more for mine back in 1998......so this is a good price)....My probes are Stainless....so Meth will not be a problem. Because this has held up to over 10years of abuse and still works....I say its an A+ system.

Remember...this thing comes with 2 probes.....you can place it where ever you want.....Before intercooler...after intercooler.....right before meth spray system and right after.

BTW....I have set up a test for meth just to see what it does to stainless steel, aluminum and regular metal. All three have been sitting in a close container half full for over a month now. The regular metal ( house hold pipe) is showing some change...but the SS and Aluminum pipe stays the same.

For reference point....I have also used the same metals and have placed them in the same size containes but this time they are filled with Coca Cola. The Coca Cola is killing the regular matal

I would prefer a smaller display as opposed to a round gauge, but without the need for the before/after twin sensor setup... But all of those I've seen are aircraft gauges priced similarly to the GTM gauge. In fact, GTM's was the cheapest I've seen.

Spendy.

If anyone finds a small display similar to the GTM unit, but that uses a single sensor and is affordable, please post it up.

thats the reason I like the GTM gauge the best....plus it Aircraft top notch system.

I paid a little over $400 for mine in '98 So I doubt you will find it cheaper than GTM's. I was shocked that it was going for that price...I told Sharif to get me one before George and Sam wakes up

I would be willing to bet that the sensor construction is virtually identical regardless of who makes the actual gauge. Hell, I wouldn't be suprised if the sensor itself was manufactured by the same company.

And Nordskog gauges are not exactly junk. But I got it, I know some of you think if it doesnt cost an arm and a leg it can't be a good product.

WRONG !! I am one of those thats willing to buy and throw away. I have purchased many gauges from many companies over the years...from autometer to Defi.....so I am well educated in whats junk and whats good. Names do nothing for me. Matter of fact...I have never heard of this company when I purchased this system 10 years ago. Its made for an aircraft...and i am well aware of their restriction ...so I know that it has to be made to a certain quality.

And I am willing to bet you also that they are not made by the same company !!

With this aircraft gauge you can also set it to display "Difference" which will show you how much the Meth has dropped the temp. So you have Before, After and Diff temps displayed .

You made a good find. You posted a gauge that most would find to be a great price and would rather buy than that one GTM has listed.....but there are those of us ( like me )that want to be dumb and pay alot for a good product.

:
how far did you mount the sensor after the meth? I think I only have 7-8 inches left after the Meth nozzle and the Throttle body. It is an interesting product and I can always mount one before the FMIC and use my MAF to measure the IAT after the FMIC and use the other sensor after the Meth...

I have a Nordskog gauge for my LC-1, and unfortunately the gauge can't be modified into a rectangle gauge because the PCB is round inside.

I have 12" from nozzle to throttle body....but in your case I would put it as far away from the nozzle as possible to get the best reading. That way you would get the exact temp going into the plenum.
