Race Gas or Meth????
I have some questions regarding the 2 methods:
I am trying to decide between doing a race gas map or doing a methanol injection setup. I have a meth injection setup from my old car sitting in my garage but i am not sure i want to add any more complexity to my setup. I am thinking it might be a better idea to just make a race gas map due to the fact that i will not run it very often and there is less of a chance for mechanical failure.
My questions are how big of a pain in the a$$ is it to drain the fuel tank in order to fill w/ race gas? Is there any type of drain plug in the tank or can you just syphon the gas out? How fail proof is using a meth setup with the F-con?

Are you sure you want to run race gas all the time? 1st is the cost will kill you and second your 02 sensor will crap on you because of the lead. Meth kit is more cost effective and will not damage your 02 sensor. $3-$5 gallon meth will last you at least 4-5 fillup. FCon is perfect with meth since it can automatically switch to different map if you ran out of meth.
Edit: also Race Gas will not help you cool down your IAT which is very important in hot summer days. Also Meth/Alcohol is party oxygenated so that help with the burning and it creates a clean burn.

IMO
For track-special occasions and more power Id do race gas.
For a good power jump above solely pump gas, and for people who want to be able to "throw down" at any moment without worrying about mixing, etc, Id do meth.
With that being said I did meth, and have no regrets. My car makes power almost as high as the most powerful Greddy set-ups on race gas, the difference I can make up for driving

the issue with meth is the liability if it isnt working correctly. from a shops point of view, i dont want to see anyone driving on the "meth" map when the meth isnt working correctly.
i love race gas, its in there EVERY time you put it in the tank...

good point on the sensor, my sensor went cazy on me when I ran race fuel, that's was an exspensive fix.
thanks for the replies guys.
I was intending on using the race gas only every once in awhile. Not driving around on it all the time, thats why i asked how big of a pain in the *** it is to drain the tank?

Also a kill switch for the meth circuit so you can run maps that are meant for non meth.

I think he is reffering to the probability of pump failure, clogged nozzels, etc.
By the time that activation light is lit you are F^^^ed anyways

then you are pretty much pissing in the wind lol
you would more than likely have a low 10:1 afr

+1000000
Plus my Meth Kit is controlled by the F-con.

Do you guys have it set for the meth to turn on at a certain PSI(or RPM)?
Running it all the time?
I have the Utec no control for external stuff like that so i use the meth controller as a stand alone.
Hence my whole reasoning to go with a standalone ems.

I know some site has exaggerated this numbers but if Methanol only have an octane rating of 114 (some site has it 101) then how can this lead to 117 (c16 octane rating) if you are only spraying 50% meth so if you average it down then it should be lower since the big portion of your fuel is still 93 octane. It is probably close to high 90's rather than above 100 octane..
