Another Powerlab install!!
Craig is upset cause of a few issues with his car that are unexplainable and it taking a while to figure out. Something is causing the timing to retard itself 10-20 degrees randomly. This has been the issue all along and we are replacing parts till we figure it out. Only thing left is to pull the tranny and check the timing teeth on the flywheel. It's been a long drawn put process but we will get it all 100% for him. We have replaced every sensor and evry moving part on the car but the clutch and the wiring harness. Almost there with it. Thanks for your patience.
I hate these pita proceses but some times it is what we have to do in this business to find problems.I wish it was just simple but its a pita to find out what the hell is wrong with some of these cars.

how much whp you pushing now? 50 whp more like you want might be somewhat doable with out really doing anything to your tn kit,.....but if you wanna start modding pipes etc etc... then... its just a fail waiting to happen. ENjoy it for what it is...

Yes. I looked at the PL kit and there does seem to be some quality parts (funny how the guy mentioned a BOV for quality parts).
I am happy with it but there MAY come a time where I may want just a little more power meaning not enough to warrant an ENTIRELY new kit.
I can't even remember what duty cycle my 440 injectors are running at right now on max boost on this turbine so I'm thinking that if I change to an upgraded turbo, up the injector's input, get a retune, would I be able to acheive my results or would there be a limiting factor such as piping which may not even make it worthwhile?
There is a guy in here with a stock TN kit making over 500 wheel but at 20 psi so I know it's possible for me but is ther any way I can make more hp and torque more efficiently.
Sorry if anyone thinks I am trying (or unwittingly) changing the course of the thread in my direction. I do like the PL kit even though I kow very little about it.

You're really making yourself out to be a pompous a$$hole- at least in my perception. No smiley is going to diffuse what you are ultimately trying to say.
You have a superior kit due to the traiblazers that came before. No need to berrate other kits under your breath.
I do enjoy my kit for what it is and as long as my $4,200 kit is capable of beating cars that sell for $10,000 or more, I think it was QUITE a wise investment.
If I could ogo back in time, would I have saved for the PL kit? Possibly. I do consider myself to be patient but not sure if I would be THAT patient.

for the last time.. if you cant get the power you want just by raising the boost then its not worth it... jsut be happy for what it is. How much power you putting now?

Exactly but UMW seems to have this stuff going completely over his head.

Right but the parts that I have are more than good enough with the excpetion, possibly, of the turbo which is the essence of my question.
The PL kit comes with much superior parts to make numbers that I don't want to make. All I want is another 50 hp max- maybe not even that much.
The TN kit can make that easily as is but I am wondering if i can make it more efficiently by perhaps just changing out one item.
I'm not trying to pick a fight, nor am i trying to belittle you. The FACTS are that the PL kit is better than then TN kit because of all the mentioned parts. After seeing the TN kit and the plumbing and how it is routed vs. my kit, I see the differences and i am nto as turbo-literate as many of you are.
Boost is addictive....you say you might want JUST 50 hpr later, you will probably want more, if you switch, you can do it easily, if you stay with TN, you will keep spending and spending to do what the PL kit does easily. You make it sound like i am attacking you personally!! it's all good bro!

I wonder who has been with out there car longer than me? I think I win this one.
Nice build Jeremy, PowerLab kit is looking good, That turbo makes 7 PSI so easily, now you just have to convince the owner to build the engine!

If a guy is capable of making 500whp on the stock kit, then it may be worth it by just buying a newer/more efficient housing being as that I already have the other equipment necessary. After I picked-up my car from GTM, Sam noted that the biggest limiting factor in making more hp for the TN kit wasn't the bottleneck but the turbo itself. I'm 100% posistive I can make more hp to the amount that I want as is but I wonder if I can do it more efficiently. That's my point.
seriously jsut have gtm get you a real turbo kit when you build your engine.
372 rwhp; 8 psi; 91 octane. GTM's dyno in Hot weather.
