Another Powerlab install!!
hey guys,
we have been extra busy wrapping up a few really big projects along with some crazy one offs. we have been trying to fit in a few powerlab , greddy and vortechs of course. here is a little build we did this week.
powerlab gt35r kit
utec
deatschwerks injectors
tial blow off valve
tial 44mm wastegate
stock motor on this G35. i swear, i still love this kit so much. it makes perfect smooth power and builds full boost by 2800-3000 rpms. i cant wait to get one of these on a built motor here soon.
its the perfect combo of fine high end parts and being in the right locations.
here is the graph on wastegate 5 psi , 7 psi and 9psi. it actually was running a little rich on that last graph up top so i straightened it out some but didnt record the dyno. Car is a lot of fun!! keep up the good work Powerlab...

Ever since I got my TN kit (and happy with it) I have fell from the game as far as keeping-up with new kits and what they can do.
I've heard that the Powerlab kit is much more efficient so I looked it up on the web. I saw an engine block-only shot of it and at first glance, the housing seems to be mounted in the same place as the TN kit.
What makes this kit more efficient and more powerful than the TN kit? Is it just strictly based-on the more advanced, more efficient turbo that Powerlab is using? are there any differences in piping in regards to diameter, bends and placement? What about wastegates?
I'm just trying to figure out if I can achieve higher numbers by simply switching housings to something 'better'.

Sufficient fuel in 600cc injectors vs 380cc injectors
Superior wastegate -- Tial
Larger piping
Superior (and tuneable) engine managment in UTEC
etc etc etc

There's a ton of threads about this kit around here too.

Now, I don't want to go crazy hp/tq like what the Powerlab kit is capable of acheiving but in the future, I might want to make an extra 50 or so hp/ tq withouth having to buy a complete system.
The only thing that concerns me is the piping size. Where are the differences between the two kits in piping size? Piping size might be the only thing I can't change due to the confines of the Z's engine bay.
what exhaust is it running? no one better copy my JIC single
The JIC is not for daily driving though, the Nismo on my car was VERY streetable and bearable. The JIC is freakin badass but I might be putting in the silencer on loooong trips back home.

Just start over and hock the TN kit used. You can see the TN oversights as soon as you see where the turbo is and where the intake tube goes. The TN kit roasts the intake tube like a marshmellow and the PL kit managers to keep it away very very well.
After you see that, you see all the other differences...the quality BOV, WG, piping diam increase, jet-hotted parts, bigger injectors, the UTEC in it, the better turbo, the gianormous IC....shall I keep going?

I think you missed the point where I said I may upgrade in the future to achieve a few more horses and pound-feet WITHOUT having to purchaisng a completely new system. You also missed the point where I said I am still happy with my TN kit.
As I have already stated, some of TN's initial deficiences have been fixed by me such as an adjustable EMS and larger injectors as well as fire wrapping all part susceptible to heat damage from the pipes and turbo. My only concern are one's which require taking the kit off anyways such as the piping.
I got the kit for $4,200. Compared to the price of the kits now, I think I did quite well and the car still runs smooth and strong.
what ever makes you happy... PL kit isnt deisgned to be the cheapest out ther but rather the best...
how much whp you pushing now? 50 whp more like you want might be somewhat doable with out really doing anything to your tn kit,.....but if you wanna start modding pipes etc etc... then... its just a fail waiting to happen. ENjoy it for what it is...
