Default If I were to get an HKS supercharger, how much could I get down the road?

I am about to take the plunge and get an HKS supercharger + valvebody upgrade, and before I do this I have just one last concern, which is how much I could get back say two years down the road if I want to upgrade from my Z to a GTR? I know that modifying is a loose situation when it comes to resale, however I am just wondering what I can expect to eventually get back. The HKS kit will be GTM stage 3 if that makes any difference.

I say about 60-65% back, especially if installed and uninstalled by a known tuner

I'd think not as much as Stillen SC or APS ST/TT because of the kit. Especially being AUTO. Dealerships won't care. So, you'll likely be selling it private. Then again, if you're upgrading to GTR, you won't care.

If your upgrading to a GTR, why waste your money on a SC.. IMO...

I actually think far less (like 30-40%) if the SC is left installed.
Removed, maybe 50-60%... but what do I know?

You really think? It won't be till about 2 years from now since I am going to wait till the demand levels out so I can hopefully pick one up at MSRP or used. Till then I am thinking that a SC would be a nice way to get more power and enjoyment out of my Z, and may even help ready me for a car with the GTR's abilities. The only problem is that I want a reliable quiet solution so the HKS is really the way to go for California residents. The only problem is that it is quite expensive if you check out the site: http://www.gtmotorsports.com/product...cat=321&page=1, so I am hoping that I won't be $8.5k out when I go to sell. I willing to take a loss on installation, since that is understandable.

Well i'm not worried about loosing money on this, I am thinking about buying a GTR after all. I just don't want it to be money down the toilet in a couple years is all. Regardless I do have a good feeling that it will well spent on adding more enjoyment to my car, which is why I am seriously considering this in the first place. I absolutely love my Z, it's just that I am really finding myself desiring more power when I take it out lately. The handling and braking are superb, I just hope that boost will be the answer to what I am looking for.

a GTR brake job is 7g's and the service at intervals is 2-3g's.

If you are concerned about money, don't buy the HKS OR the GTR!!!

They are very expensive, but freaking fast for how big they are and how much they weigh.

Good luck

Aftermarket parts will become cheaper over time. Im pretty sure Stoptech or Mu will come out with something half that.

A quieter solution???

Well, once you add the SC: You'll need a BBK to stop. Then, a new clutch. Then, suspension for the track. Then, seats and guages and maybe a roll cage if you're smart. Yeah, along with a slew of other mods. "Cuz once you start..." By that time, your car will be faster and handle better than a GTR and you'll have only spent half what a used one costs.

So, I say do it.

Bye Bye brake warranty!

With the industry in the toilet, you need to think how this will affect warranty goodwills as well. As in, they are not going to happen. Regardless if they work better or not, these are aftermarket parts in a precise system...good luck getting that warrantied in any way, shape or form.

To be honest, i am very concerned about money and if my motor blows right now, the car will sit....and sit....and sit. Just keep that in mind....i ordered my kit when premuim was 3.50 a gallon. When it was put in, gas was 4.70 a gallon

little things...they will tear your bank account apart

Is the HKS really that loud? Heard it was a good amount quieter than the Vortech. Anyways i'll probably get gauges right away, along with the valve body upgrade I should be set for my engine and transmission upgrades. I have been thinking that I may want to modify my suspension, however with condition of california roads and highways the ride is rough enough as it is. California is a brutal place for sports cars.

You guys make it sound like we're heading into the great depression, I don't think the economy will get that bad...
