Default Turbonetics Stage 1 fullkit reliability/installation questions

Hey guys

I am planning to buy a full Turbonetics stage 1 kit with the reflash etc. My car is 100% stock i have a 04 track pack with 40,000km on it currently. Im planning on buying this kit and only this kit for mods and i was wondering how reliable the reflash is since i live in Canada and the city i live in doesnt have many or if any dynos/tune shops around.

I was also looking to maybe install this kit my self and i am not the most experienced person around so i was wondering how hard the install is it looks to me that its mostly just piping and injectors, i may get the ECU reflashed by someone more experienced.

P.S. If i ever do decide to further mod my car how far can i go with this reflash without tunning? I read that fuel/air modifications will require tunning but what about exhaust?
I would like some feedback on the guys who are running a total stock setup with the turbokit and how its holding up

thanks guys

-Elvis

I know a lot of people who have ran fine with the re-flash.. and i know some .. lets just say bad stories... but every car is different so.

I think you should be fine as long as you don't beat your car all the time

AS far as upgrades.. I believe turbonetics warns you about upgrading you car. The re-flash was only tuned to run on a stock Z, if u upgrade you may run into problems.

hope someone else can help.. good luck

thanks for the feedback but the ones with the bad stories, did they run fully stock setups with the reflash? Do you know what caused the problem in these cars?

Cause of course im planning to bag my car a bit whats the point of a turbo if i dont :P

i hear the turbos go bad. if i had to buy the kit, i would scrap the turbo for a precision one, and get a real EMS like hks f-con v pro or AEM EMS

I bought a utec when I got my kit so I can't comment on the reflash but as far as installing it yourself it is super easy. I installed mine and it was the first turbo I had ever done. just takes some patience.

seems to me that nobody would really recommend using the reflash.
anybody know any shop that i could possibly buy a piggyback ECU from already tuned? Since i cant tune it here.

PM Jeremy@PF and buy your kit from him. He can give you a base map that you can run. If you have a wideband then it is easy to make adjustment on the Fuel Side... either way you need a wideband if you have a turbo and you'll need that when adjusting the temp compensation in Utec.

Oh, check with PF if they still carry TN though...lol

Do the reflash. youll be fine. Im still off my reflash and im running fine at redline in every gear. If you do turbo, dont redline or come close cuz you will bend some rods garaunteed. I bent 6 rods from racing to redline.

You can download a basemap for the TN right off the turboxs website if you go with a UTEC. I can't speak for its accuracy, though.

+1 for wideband, if you are running a turbo kit without one you are sick in the head.

I redline my car every chance I get especially when racing.. I redline when I race, tune, or when I'm in the mood to speed. I have redline my car countless time... Maybe it is the Utec that save me..lol

However if the car is tuned right and your not modding the TN kit shouldn't just blow your engine though right? I can't see why it would.

ya but its not a garaunteed blow everytime. What are the chances of bending 6 rods on a tn kit at 8lbs.

I was ok on the reflash, but i have access to 94 octane which you should too if your in edmonton. You could always do the reflash then drive to ztune in vancouver and do the utec. Here is a link to their shop.
