The only time I had a problem with an AEM gauge reading '--' it was because 1 of the 2 lines coming from the actual sensor had been snipped by accident by a careless mechanic. I found it, re-connected it and bingo - the sensor came back to life.

The one thing I noticed was that the actual sensor is way in the back of the car in my exhaust, say under where the back seats wouldve been (like in a g35), is this ok or is it too far away from the turbo? SpeedTech suggested that the sensor is supposed to be a maximum of 18inches away from the turbo to read correctly.

I absolutely agree. Towards the rear is way off. If you can take a moment and look under the car, the best angle to install the o2 sensor places it at is either a zero degree (level with the ground) or a slight downward angle. Like pointing downward...maybe at worst a 45 degree angle (not 90 straight down). This is to avoid condensation at the bottom of the piping from damaging the sensor. So you have to map out the space you would need before just throwing it in. But you should be fine if you added the 02 sensor bung and installed it before the rearward o2 sensors.
Some may say the on the initial downpipe (behind the turbo)would give the most accurate reading...and they are probably right, but space is definitely a concern up front, so somewhere further back on the downpipe should be fine...a little further back may be less accurate by maybe .02 points or something minimal.
Just my .02

Yes I agreed as well, the downpipe from the turbo hits the exhaust there are two 02 sensors (stock ones), then the mid pipe comes into play, from there I have an Apexi 3" Single, the 02 is actually i nthe Apexi and its way to far. So I should get a bung put on the downpipe before the factory 02's?

Note: Forgot to mention the 02 is at a 45 degree on the top most part of the Apexi, not facing the bottom. SpeedTech said that if he removed the 02 from the exhaust he gets a reading, and as soon as he puts it back it, its -- again. Looks like I have to move it up front.

Before or immediately after. If I remember from back in my Turbonetics days, there are o2 sensor extenders in your version of the mid-pipe? Right. I think I had my o2 sensor wideband installed right after, since they were on the upward bending part of the pipe leading to the back of the turbo. That should be fine.

Just find a good spot making sure it won't hit anything and will be easy to screw in. Then mark it with a black marker, remove that section of pipe, bring it to a welder, and put in a new bung. Don't forget to also purchase a plug for the other o2 sensor opening that you will no longer be using.

My TN downpipe has an O2 bung welded on it about 12 inches from the turbo where I have my wideband sensor. Not sure if it came like that from TN or if the previous owner had it put on, but its there. With the downpipe installed the bung is topside.
