Default What gauges?

So I am really not wanting to clutter up my interior with gauges... so I am wondering what gauges do you FI guys run and where did you mount them? Heck post some pics if you have em.

I was in the same boat...didn't want clutter....at the time HKS CAMP2 wasn't out yet.

I went with just 2 gauges on the A-pillar (AEM tru-boost gauge/controller, and AEM uego wideband).

IMHO lots of gauges are absolutely Useless. I know for many on here (myself included), things are happening fast. When I am at the drag strip, or oven spirited on the street, I only have time to watch one gauge, the Tach. Sometimes I can catch a glance of the A/F.

I guess if you are video taping the gauges they are good, but then if their is a prob you are way too late. Better to have a way to log (memory gauges, not sure if the CAMP2 logs, or a ECU that will log)

just my $.02

Tom

+1 thom - I have the wideband and boost gauges on the pillar and its hard to get a good look at what is happening while you are deep in the pedal. Logging or the camp2 is the way to go IMHO, especially since most drivers are used to glancing at the radio while driving.

XKR, is the Camp2 only good for a specific EMS or does it gather the readings and info on its own?

From what I was told..it will pull info from any EMS...but will display more info when used with the Fcon. With this device...you will never need gauges. I paid tons of $$$$ in custom work for my gauges...wish this was out before then.

Here are some pictures........

I guess I am just going to do some warning lights for oil pressure and water temp. I was gonna do a boost guage so I could keep an eye on the boost in certain conditions... usually turbo cars make more boost when it gets colder, like in winter or even in the morning. Right?

If I am correct, boost will stay the same, but your A/F ratio will change as the colder air is more dense.

I got a friend with a TT Porsche and when it gets significantly colder, his will make anywhere from 3-4psi more. And when it makes more boost, the tuneup needs to be adjusted. Atleast this is my take on it. On my racecar, we always tuned for max boost every pass, so it didnt matter.... but I've never had a TT street car.

if you have an ebc I always used mine as my boost reference since it was more accurate than the defi gauges anyway. other than that I would get fuel pressure and wideband at a minimum. but I wouldn't go crazy on the gauges because i know several guys that went all out and now wish they hadn't

I'm not saying there's absolutely no reason to have gauges.
If its in your budget though get something that can either store 30seconds of data, or at least give you peak information for after a pull. Its at least nice to know what psi I hit on a pull.

camp2 pulls off the obd2.

by the time u read a gauge and its f'd, u r f;d. not if ands butts about it. 1 too late to the menage a trois.

all those gauges are good for are prediction, not for real time running

So are you saying that the boost, rpm, water temp, a/f for example on the Camp2 is not real time .....because that would NOT be correct...The stock rpm, speed,...the standard boost gauge, water temp, egt reads exactly the same as the Camp2.....maybe you mean if you dont have the Fcon..
