putting auto turbo kit on a manual car??
hey guys i havent had a chance to talk to a shop yet, i have the opportunity to pick up a turbonetics kit that was on an auto g35, i have a manual z, both are non rev up, what would need to be done to swap it over to work on my car, i am told it can be done, but like i said haven't talked to the shop the car will be going to. . any info will be great and give me a jump start.
yeah im not too concerned with going from a g to a z, i believe just intake pipe is different, but not too sure, i know its not a big deal there, i am just concerned with putting the kit on a manual since it is the one that was designed for auto, but am told it is fine to do. i am at work so i will pm him later. thanks
prolly will tomorrow, sunday bump. . nobody is open. . i am in upstate ny so either vinny ten or mrc will be doing the work the kit is actually at vinny ten right now was just uninstalled off a member on heres g35. so i kinda gotta talk to a few shops and calling turbonetics wouldn't hurt.

it came off a 05 auto g35 non rev-up. . i am going to call vinny since he is the one who did the install and uninstall on the car it was on, so i take it he will know all about the kit and tell me exactly what im gonna need to do. . i was under the impression somethings different is that all it is the piping cause of the tranny? i mean the auto and manual kit have 2 different part numbers
Yes it does in this case....
You will need to get the 6mt crossover pipe from Turbonetics. Good luck with that, as its going to be pretty pricey. I had to do the same thing with my turbo kit. And there is absoluty NO WAY to modify the other one.
Honestly, after it was all said and done, I would have bought a new kit instead of messing with it. Used kits suck
i just talked to vinny at vinny ten racing who did the install and uninstall, and he said that the auto kit will work on a manual car, but you can't take a kit from a manual and put it on auto without changing things, he said the only thing that i would need to change is the intercooler and that he has some there that we could just swap. . so as of now i am assured that the kit will work on my car.

im aware of that comment but i am told that it will actually fit my z withough changing the crossover pipe, and that an auto kit will actually fit a manual car with some room to spare, but you can't take the manual kit and fit it to an automatic without changing the crossover pipe, i called turbonetics and they said the same, and that the crossover pipe is the only difference in the two kits. so i should be all set.
why don't you think it would work, i have talked to turbonetics and they told me that it would work and vinny at vinny ten racing told me it would work, so why do you say it won't i understand the crossover pipes are different thats not my concern, my concern is if it will work or not which i am told it will, so what are your reasons that it won't. and you don't have to be a dick about it really i am just trying to figure some things out, and if it didn't work and i needed a crossover pipe from the manual kit how much would that be . . i never asked since both tell me it will work and that you just cant take the manual kit and put it on an auto but you can take the auto kit and fit it to a manual car.
im not looking for opinions im looking for facts on why or why not. . and why would i just say oh he must be right it won't work when others are saying it will. . like i said i want to get down to it and really find out for sure and why?
ok... for the mentally challenged...
I bought an AUTO kit, went to put it on my 6mt... THE CROSSOVER PIPE WILL NOT WORK. THEY ARE 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT DEALS!!
Not being a d!ck, just trying to help you. Listen to your elders.
Turbonetics wouldnt make an auto and a manual kit if they were the same

thats all im looking for facts like someone saying i tried it and it didn't work, did you have a auto z kit you were trying on a manual z, because this kit is off a auto g35 and why would vinny totally assure me it will work confidently like there is no question. and say what he did that it would be fine just cant take a manual kit to an auto? thats all i wanna know is why a reputable z shop would say it will work when it won't i guess ill have to give him a call tomorrow and see what the deal it, i really appreciate your feedback, but you were def. coming off as a dick as i was just trying to figure this whole deal out. how much is a crossover pipe, did you ever end up getting it done and how much did it cost you to swap it over.
