Default Does E-Manage Blue still fry coils?

I am selling my greddy turbo setup to a friend, and going to install it and set him up with a conservative 400whp on his stock engine.

I have been pretty out of the loop on the piggy back stuff for a long time now... so im wondering if software updates or anything have corrected the issue of the blue emanage toasting coils with the timing harness? I remember that some guys had issues with it consistently, and some guys ran it forever with no problems... but im just curious of the status on that.

thanks.

I kniw back in the day it had issues with timing. that being said I wouldn't mess with it since I don't know a shop that would recommend it besides aam. ill sell that **** to some honda guys and get a utec. its cheap and will takw care of your boy esp. if he is stayinf under 400. I don't know a shop that would recommend that ems. I understand yourteying to unload your kit but don't do your friens wrong and strongly advise him to upgrade. a utec can be picked up for 4 or 500 and will savw his engine in the long run. not ideal but adequate. gl brotha with the sale

I think it was a design issue with the emanage and you had to wire in resisters with the coilpacks or something like that IIRC.

the resistor thing was bs... i had a customer running with the resistors and he fried 2 coils over 2 years. but i had another guy go even longer without frying any coils and we didnt put any resistors in that one.

Phunk I don't think greddy resolved the problem. To date nobody uses the e-manage blue. I hope this answers your question.

Charles,

Uprev reflash will be the best bet, with a new MAF to increase resolution.

Safe, and great driveability.

I'm not sure but I think the latest version update when used with the support tool was supposed to take care of it. I'm using the blue with ignition harness and heard about the coil pack issue so I just got some diodes (1n4007 I think)and just soldered them on, $2 and 10 minutes later, no worries.

phunk when i bought my 350z it had the emanage blue on it. There was a little circuit board that had been installed that the wires to the coils ran through first. As far as I know this car never went through any coils. It was some type of resistor setup.

i thought i remember something about the ignition harness being ok as long as you didn't consistently turn the key to accessory and leave it there w/o the motor running.

What info do you have on MAFs with greater resolution? Is this a better solution that MAP ???

Nope still frying coils to my knowledge, unless you run the diodes...and even then it can still kill the coils if you leave the key on engine off too long.
