Thumbs up FunctionTUNED - CvD's Vortech 350Z - much win.

Finally got tuned yesterday at F:T with my Vortech 2.87 setup. I built the car in my garage with the help of a few friends over the past couple of weeks and enlisted FunctionTUNED for the tune.

All I can say is ... wow. Dave did an incredible job tuning the car and it made some extremely impressive numbers.

Quick blurb from my build thread:

The car is incredible, it drives like stock when not hammering on it - even in gnarly beltway traffic and at a 70/80MPH cruise. You'd never know it was making the kind of power that it is. It's just so smooth it's phenominal. All around amazing job tuning it.

Unfortunately, it was raining the whole way home. I got one good pull on relatively dry pavement in 4th gear. I hit about 5K RPM and the tires started spinning (at around 80/90MPH) and the traction control jumped in and cut fuel ... it seriously scared the **** out of me. Thankfully I didn't turn the TC off, otherwise there would have been trouble.

Beyond that, the drive home was flawless. Can't wait to get it out on dry roads and see what it can really do. The few partial throttle pulls I did out of toll plaza's felt amazing, when there was traction

A few have asked anyway via PM, so here's the relevant mod list:
Vortech Tuner Kit
2.87" Pulley (stock cog pulleys)
Bando Belt
600CC Deatchwerks Injectors
Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump
FunctionTUNED Basic Fuel Return System
1 Step Colder NGK Iridium Plugs
T-Bolt Clamps
UTEC - FunctionTUNED
UR 14.5lb Flywheel
Southbend Stage II Clutch
Braided Clutch Line & Motul Fluid
Top Speed Headers
Top Speed Test Pipes
Stillen True Dual Catback
Varis CF Intake Duct (yes it matters damnit! lol)

I think that covers all the power mods ...

On with the videos and graphs.

First pull, 325WHP:

Third pull, 345 WHP:

Again, in my build thread is tons of pics and more info about the car.

Thanks again to my friends and Dave @ FunctionTUNED for making this happen.

Congrats on finishing your build

I would have expected to see higher numbers considering your other breathing mods and the pulley size

Every dyno is different. I believe a stock Z will put down about 225-230 on his dyno, so it's a considerable improvement (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm very pleased with the results

Good numbers, Dave FTW. Funny thing I noticed is that is the EXACT same numbers that I made back when I was vortech and on a 2.87 pulley lol.

Congrats on your build, another F:T family member. Dave's dyno is truly a heartbreaker, but you can't argue with butt dyno results.

+1 on scary in the rain.

Agreed with the heartbreaker, but I'm more interested in how it handles the track next year. Numbers are mostly irrelevant - it's all about the lap times, constency and how well it runs

+ 1000 on Daves Dyno reading low as hell. I made 376 on his dyno and 478 on a dynojet locally here. The numbers here are consistent with 3 other dyno jets in the area so its not a case of a dyno reading high here.

Those are good numbers.....DD dyno's do read much lower than DJ's. Forged Performance DD reads on an average 12% to 15% lower than the DJ's I have tested on. FP is also 2% lower than the other DD that I ran on.

Took me a while to figure all this DD vs DJ numbers.

You people are used to them super high reading dyno's . 9 psi is going to get him exactly what he got . the 2.87 should make more PSI than 9 psi though. If you take it to the track and trap 105 to 110 your making the right whp

just pick up my vortech g up from FT like 2 weeks ago made 340 with 2.87 pulley on and with SI TRIM. its make like 12 psi. put like 100mi on it and then the supercharger went up started blowin oil out the by pass valve. sent it back to vortech they fixed it and said one the the seal or something in it wasnt right. any picked it up drove it back home 90 mi. or so then dorve it a few more times approx.30 more mi.then it seems the bearing went up in it making a super loud sreetching noise anyway car back at function tuned again. so i enjoyed my car for like 2 days. lets see what went wrong with the vortech this time.

Its not a vrt dyno, Im in Hershey Pa. But for reference a GTO dynod right before me with exhaust intake catless mids and made 330whp which is what they make anywhere else on a DJ. So I dont know if the #s are that infalted. I had a little time believing it until I saw the GTO's #'s. But either way keep this OT for Car Vs Driver.

Ouch, that sucks man. Which version blower do you have, is it the V2? I know the V1's had a bad batch in the past where they were blowing up left and right.
