Default Greddy TT downpipe question

hey guys...........i've been running my current setup for about a year and a half the exhaust i have is the stock greddy DP'sw/open dumps, 2.5 cat-delete pipes, 2.5 to 3 y-pipe and a single path 3"............well i'm gonna upgrade to true dual 3" exhaust and i wanna upgrade the DP's but since i've been running the stock DP's for so long i'm kind of scared to mess with them. i have already had a bolt break off in one of the turbo housing when i was installing the stock DP's, but i was fortunate enough to be able to get it out so after a year and a half of extreme heat cycles it kind of makes me nervious to screw with them.......so here's my question........i'm thinking about leaving the stock DP's on and having some 3" cat-delete pipes fab. up to bolt to the stock DP's.......do you guys think it will be ok or should i just go 3" straight for the turbo housing?......i just wanna eliminate the bottle neck that i currently have with my exhaust so i can push up the boost and brake into the 5XX's whp..................any opinion is welcome

thanks
dave

3" straight to the turbo.

No point in keeping the Greddy cones, because they drop down to 2.5"

Aren't DPs and Test Pipes/Cat Deletes the same thing? My exhaust is custom from turbo to muffler = one straight pipe. It does taper down from 3" to fit to the turbos though.

try to get a set that doesnt have as big of a step from the turbo to the piping (aka goes 3" up to the turbo). its really a great investment and there will be reduced lag as the stock greddy dp is pretty resrictive. also, get a retune after you are done, you'll notice a big difference.

thanks guys for the opinons...................and george i definitly agree.............but do you think with all the heat cycles i've put on those turbos are gonna affect those bolts in the turbo housing..............i mean $600 for down pipes are one thing.......$1500 to pull the engine to replace a turbo housing because of a broken bolt is another:/

I am willing to bet you'll snap at least one more stud after all that time and heat/road crap. But like George mentioned, I wouldnt even bother doing this unless you go 3 inch turbo back. I know that snapping those studs can be a huge ordeal to repair, so if you don't want to take the risk (understandable) then I would just leave it be. And leave that upgrade for the next time the engine is out of the car.

That's what I would do, for what it's worth.
