No. As I understand it Adaptive learning is more of a compensation feature on top of being a closed loop system. From what I read...and only goes to +-10%? Not sure but thats just how I read it off their site. Im not a Pro EFI guy. Seems kind of like a fancy name for something a top of the line EMS should do...compensate. Autronic SM-4 is a closed loop system for boost and idle control.
Auto tune means set your background parameters...hold throttle, rpms, and load...and wait for the cell to turn green. When you're green.. the factors you have determined in your desired A/F have been corrected to maintain your A/F ratio at that point. The more cells that are green the smoother your A/F's are throughout load, throttle, boost, RPM etc.
Thats the simple way to put it... and it is pretty much that simple. Perfecting the background factors is whats the hard part.

Just a quick mention on a purely cosmetic mod. I have been looking for a "stubby" ariel for a while now, problem was that every time I found one in the classifieds it seemed to become a discussion about if it was an actual S2000 part and did the base fit flush or not. Another member saw me lurking and contacted me with an offer and was even able to provide a pic. The member is sluggoZ and he says he sells these all the time. Another slight bit of comedy this past weekend when I asked my wife to pick up a cheap set of king sized sheets to use as a dust cover for the winter on the Z. She came home with these, I think she's messing with me now:

A Great Big Box (not that kind of box)
I was waiting all day for a delivery from FedEx and I left the house for 5 minutes to pick my son up from school and of course it came while I was out. I was like a kid on Christmas when I pulled up the driveway and felt bad when I had to tell my son the package wasn't for him - he's only 5. I became slightly alarmed when I noticed a huge hole in the side of the box:

The box was from Stillen with my Series 2 Fascia
. Great turn time by Stillen and it turns out that the product was undamaged. After spending a few minutes trying to get the front to line up I realized to fit it from bottom to top instead of top to bottom and it slid right on. I like it just the way it is, without the splitter, and it seems to line up with the stock rocker panels nicely. I will wait for paint and final fitment before a decision is made though. Here are a few pics of how it looks just sitting on the front:
I realize its on slightly crooked, but I just wanted to get a feel for how it looked. I am very happy!!!

Powder Coat is Back
After a few weeks of waiting impatiently my parts are back from powder coat. When the motor arrived it had been painted a flat royal blue (spray-painted no less) and the valve covers were painted with a racing stripes in the same color . After much searching I was unable to find out if the valve covers can be powder coated, so I decided to gamble and give it a try. I really had nothing to lose since I would replace the other ones because the the paint anyway. Here are the results:
This is the front and rear timing chain covers. I thought the color match was very close and has a nice sparkle to it. The little flecks that look like pits or imperfections are actually lint from the rag I had it wrapped in.

There is just a bit of discoloration on the rear of the drivers side valve cover, but I let it slide since you can't see it after install anyway.

The intake has some smoothing of the walls done to it, but its not 100% smooth. I might see if I can improve on that prior to assembly.

Tough to say right now. Motor assembly starts next week, but I still need to send parts out for Jet-Hot, purchase exhaust, have the APS kit installed, purchase and install an EMS, base tune, break-in and re-tune, meth tune.....you know the drill thom.
The biggest hold-up will be PA emissions inspection. The plan was to take off my TN single kit and roll stock for a few weeks to get inspected, but that can't happen til April at the earliest. If I knew for certain I would not throw codes with my new setup I could accelerate things, but right now I am driving on an emissions exemption and that limits my milage to 5K or less per year. I wanted to hit up more meets and shows this year, so emissions is a must.
I am really hoping to be able to make the airstrip event though.
The biggest hold-up will be PA emissions inspection. The plan was to take off my TN single kit and roll stock for a few weeks to get inspected, but that can't happen til April at the earliest. If I knew for certain I would not throw codes with my new setup I could accelerate things, but right now I am driving on an emissions exemption and that limits my milage to 5K or less per year. I wanted to hit up more meets and shows this year, so emissions is a must.

I went threw the wait (thats the worst part...and waiting on the last few pieces aaaahhh). Patience is key though.
I too am going through emissions BS. Having to go around system here in IL (damn commies, only 4 fricking counties have emmissions testing in IL wtf is that).
Good luck and keep us updated. Its amazing how fast it all comes together once you start the full assembly with all parts there. And I'm sure PA is like IL now....no rush to finish and have it sit looking at the snow lol.

Its even worse now, anything newer than '02 and they plug directly into your OBD port and pull codes right from the stock EMS. The machines the garages have are wired right into the State's mainframe and it does a full info match (VIN and such) to verify its your car that is hooked up. Can't even just clear the codes, because the machine reads if all sensors have responded or if some are still pending, meaning they have just been reset. I went to about 20 backwoods and shady downtown shops and every one said the same thing, they can't get around the State's CPU. I was even offering 500 reasons to just give me a sticker if you know what I mean.
