Default V-2 vs V-3 Vortech

Alright, so I did some searching and found nothing about this. Maybe I just epicly fail at the search. But I'm wondering which is better, the V-2 or the V-3 vortech supercharger. I know the V-3 is self lubricated and the V-2 is engine lubricated but which is better, I would think the V-2 since it helps to cool the charger also. Any input is appreciated.

Also, side note, what does everyone think of the fuel system that comes with the complete setup? I'm debating on getting that and slowly upgrading from there. What is everyone that has a good setup running for fuel?

there is no better one as the blower interals are the same. However, like u surmised the V2 has 5 -6 qts of oil to keep the bearings good as compared to the 4oz the V3 has.

running out of the box, the full kit is perfect. just bolt on and you are ready to go.

I thought the v3 fixed the idle rattle that the v2 has.

Also, its 4oz of gear oil, not engine oil.

What size injectors should I go with, I was thinking 600cc so I have a little give if I want to add more power in the future. My starting goal is maybe around 400rwhp.

Does anyone have a definite answer as to whether the V3 fixes the idle rattling noise? I was thinking about switching to the V3 if this is the case.

As for injectors, I have RC 650's in mine. You should be fine with the 440s though. The Utec works, but the Haltech works much better.

u can bump the idle, you cant change the rev limter (without a reflash) on newer models. think thats the confusion

You cannot raise the idle on an '04.5 using Uprev Cipher or the Consult II - we've tried both. And both worked just fine on my '03.

How do we know if we have '04 or '04.5? I haven't heard the the rattle so I don't know how bad it is but knowing I could raise idle if I wanted would be good.

There really isn't any performance benefit of one over the other. It comes down to personal preference. Some like the V2 because after you install it it's maintenance free, just one motor oil change every 3,000 miles. Some like the V3 because install is a little quicker and you don't have to make a hole in your oil pan. With the V3 you change the supercharger oil every 7,500 miles.

Also both the V2 and V3 for the 350Zs/G35s are now the SCi-Trim. Vortech phased out the S-Trim and SC-Trim. They now use the Si-Trim in all kits that came with the S-Trim ,and the SCi-Trim in all kits that came with the SC-Trim. The SCi has 6% more peak efficiency and will support about 100 more HP than the previous SC-Trim.

I have a V-3 and it's been great to me so far.

My rattle on my V-3 can BARELY be heard unlike my friend's V-2 which was very loud.

I bumped the idle on mine and now it cannot be heard. My friend's ,even after the bump was still slightly audible.

No this is the interesting news. I might still look into this.

shakuya88:
As for telling if you have an 04.5, if you have an 04 and it has console knee pads, seat belt holders/extenders by the shoulder, and a few other things you have an 04.5. There's a sure way to tell based on vid number, but I don't remember what it is off the top of my head.

Well, I have the seat belt extender things but I don't think I have knee pads. Hmm, anyone know the way to tell by vin? I'll look through the FSM.

From this thread:

2004.5 Nissan 350Z Coupe/Roadster (Coupe VINs from D*4T160001, E*4T060001) ( Roadster VINs from D*4T110001, A*4T010001)

Looks like I might have been mistaken about the seat belt things, I thought I remember reading that the 03/04 models didn't have those. Certain options depend on your trim too, my performance Z has manual seats so I don't get the extra adjustability *****.
