Greddy Twin Turbo kit problems
I need you help on this issue. I will provide as much information as I have.
I sold my Greddy Twin Turbo kit to a friend of mine.
I had it previously installed in my z for about two months. (300 miles more or less since it was a weekend car)
He had someone with no experience installing that kit for him. After two months he called me and said that the both turbos quit on him. He described as driving a "stock" z.
What is yall opinion about it? It might be that he needs to replace both turbos? Thank you all as always.
A few things that I should add:
Mine was a 2003 model and his a 2006.
On my car was working perfectly since Performance Factory installed and removed it form my car.
The kit worked just fine for about an month 1/2 on his car.
This people that installed the kit did not intalled the filter that comes from the turbo. they said they couldnt fit. Picture attached from my car when the kit was installed.

ummm....with no air intakes....anything could have been sucked into the turbos....unless i'm not understanding what you meant. this is bad....
No air filters and inexperienced installers is a recipe for disaster, I would imagine that something has been sucked in and the turbos may be toast as well some other things, unfortunately
if the guy realy dont have any experience in installing it, then
1-make sure the wastgates are not leaking, if the wastgate are leaking, ull not gonna get any boost.
2-check the compressor outlet pipes, if one of them is leaking, ull allso have the same problem no boost and no power.
3-check the flywheel sensor. will allso do the same thing.
allso u say that the installer didnt install the filters. !!!! so that means the compressor inlet allways open !?!?!?!?! damn it can sucked any thing out there on the street, that will realy Damage the turbos, any small rock or sand will Damage the turbos.
i hope this can help.

I would tell him I wasn't aware I sold this with a warranty and insurance after shoddy installation work. not something you really want to save money on, because it needs to be done properly. I hope he isn't expecting you to come to the rescue on this one.
The only reason I mention this is you sound like you are defending your position that it was fine when you sold it (and it obviously was, as it worked for him after installation)
that being said, if you're just collecting info to help the guy out and he's not acusing you of selling him crap parts, that's nice of you, but I would tell him to spend the money and take it to a real shop.

You got it. They said they could not install the air intakes ( space issues )
when you say "this is bad" u mean that probably they are toasted right?

Thank you I told him exactly what you wrote.
If the turbos were still working...i'd STILL be worried...who knows what kind of 'pollutants' your friend has been cramming into his motor. As i'm sure you/he know (or should)...those air filters are what replaced the stock motor air filter. They are what filters the debris out of the air before the air is pushed into the motor. It's a pretty important part of the whole air intake process....that's why all cars come with them...
My suggestion...tell your friend to get a new shop. Tell your friend you are sorry for his loss...but that given that information, you can not be expected to be even partially liable for ANY damage done to those turbos...Not a single reputable shop would have let him drive off with turbos not having some sort of air filter on them...unless it was a drag only car. Even then...he'd have had to specifically pushed for them to allow this probably...

Yep Im just collecting info to help the guy out and he's not acusing me of anything. Thanks for your input bud... you definetelly right about a real shop...I spent money with Performance Factory but I got everything done 5 stars.
If you already were working with a reputable shop that installed it and removed it without problems, why didnt your friend just take it there and have it swapped over to his car? Why go to some unknown place that had no experience???
Makes sense what u said...I guess he thrusted that shop and maybe because was cheaper
